Now you've gone too far. Robocop is a great movie. The whole point of the movie is satire so it's probably over your AvP shitty movie loving head. I keep hearing about how Peter Weller is some cult iconic hero like Bruce Campbell and Kane Hodder. Who's Peter Weller? What else was he in - or was he pretty much Ron Howards brother who's been in every B movie under the sun with a limited cameo role. God this movie sucked after a rewatch. Only more painstaking was the sequels where I think Weller played additional roles without the suit.

Alien . . . . . 1,027,052 - Robocop Somewhere inbetween is Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Pony. Robocop sucked donkey.

Gotta disagree on Robocop. That movie is awesome. The sequels always sucked but that first one I can still watch today.
My love for Terminator 2 has waned recently. I’ve flip flopped on which I thought was better between that and Terminator 1. I much prefer the first nowadays.
The Big Green was really hard to sit thru when I tried rewatching a few months back but I remember watching it a bit as a kid.

Any Jean Claude Van Damme movie He had one called Hard Target that’s still pretty good. I think it was a John Woo film. He had a terrible mullet in it and it featured Wilford Brimley attempting a Cajun accent. Despite that it has its charms. Also Timecop wasn’t bad. Anything with Mia Sara can’t be all that bad. I saw Kickboxer again a few years back. The climactic fight is fucking absurd.. but I definitely loved that movie 20 years ago or so.

Bloodsport is still epic. I’ve always liked the Quest also, even tho it’s Bloodsport Lite.

Karate Kid - plenty dated and the action scenes are mostly insults to my intelligence.

Hard Target is my favorite Van Damme film for everything you mentioned and more. The slow-mo from four different angles every time JCVD shows up on the scene, the terrible dialog, all of it. And of course, it closes out on Born On The Bayou.

The Dark Crystal is unwatchable as an adult.

Goonies and Last Action Hero. I loved both of these movies when I was younger. I have seen them both again for the first time in years recently and they both suck.

The Dark Crystal is unwatchable as an adult. That's a good call. I absolutely LOVED this movie as a kid and re-watched it a few years ago and it was absolutely tedious and tepid.

For Robocop, it's not even a matter of disagreement - that movie is awesome. It's a fact. One of the top sci-fi movies of its decade, a brilliant satire, has a great script and memorable performances abound from Kurtwood Smith, Ronny Cox, Miguel Ferrer (RIP to a great supporting actor), Nancy Allen, Robert DoQui, Ray Wise, Paul McCrane, Dan O'Herlihy and yes, even Peter Weller. Terminator 2, man remember when that came out? We all loved it, myself included. But over the years as I've re-watched it and the original, I notice that the sequel is just too, I dunno, neat. Arnold is cracking jokes, the T1000 seemingly forgets his abilities halfway through the movie (and disappears for huge chunks of it too), Linda Hamilton is shrieking.....the original is gritty, suspenseful, even scary at points. The T100 is unrelenting except for that one part where he flees the car wreck when the cops show up but otherwise that's what a terminator movie should be.

I caught Last Action Hero about a year ago or so. I actually never really liked that movie as a kid but when I watched it recently I found it oddly amusing. Yeah, it gets a bit muddled and the third act falls a bit flat but I found it pretty fun, at least moreso than I remembered. Charles Dance and Tom Noonan are both excellent in villain roles.

I agree, to an extent, but I am a HUGE Arnold fan and always have been. The movie is still funny and the jokes still hit, for the most part, but the kid is a HORRIBLE actor and some of the writing is awful. I praised this movie all the time when people asked me about it. I saw it a hundred times when I was younger.

It's rare you get one that actually delivers a strong performance so I typically just hope that they are easily forgettable and I can focus on the rest of the movie.

Man, think of the roll Arnold went on, culminating with Terminator 2 which, despite my misgivings described above, was still a massive hit and is still a good, watchable movie. But this string of movies: the Conan movies Red Sonja Commando - for me, arguably the best cheesy action movie of the decade; so ridiculous yet so awesome The Terminator and T2 Predator The Running Man Total Recall Twins Kindergarten Cop Red Heat True Lies Yeah, some are better than others but that's a pretty solid bunch of movies right there. From there, it definitely went downhill with dogshit like Jingle All The Way and the wretched Batman & Robin, but hey.

I’m going to have to assume you forgot his manly yet sensitive turn in Junior, a re-teaming with Danny DeVito. One of my favorite memories as a kid is my grandfather taking me to see The Terminator in the theater. I was about 13 and he didn’t know what he was getting into with that film. Overall it’s a better film than T2, but I do love me some T2. It just needed a little less humor. Predator is somewhere between the two.

From there, it definitely went downhill with dogshit like Jingle All The Way and the wretched Batman & Robin, but hey. Arnie is the action king of all time. It's funny, I saw someone on a message board (can't remember if it was here or the old site) saying they didn't 'get' Arnold. They were young enough not to have lived through Schwarzenegger in his prime, so they didn't understand the appeal. Maybe action heroes have a shelf life. I watch old John Wayne movies and scratch my head, it must be the same with Arnie for the generation behind us. Good call on Commando, it's THE best cheesy action movie ever, period. Arnold would probably still be the action king if he had only ever made T1 & T2, Commando and Predator-- and every movie you listed is still highly enjoyable. The man has iconic roles on his second tier of films, nuff said. For me, Last Action Hero killed his action career. It spoofed the genre so much it was impossible to get into him as an action star after that. I always felt like he was making fun of himself somehow. I didn't even like True Lies as much as most people do. Still, nobody has a better body of work in action films than he had for about ten years from 1982-1991. Nobody comes close in my opinion.

mrs. doubtfire - and for that matter any 'non robin Williams dark role'
robin Williams dark = scary/genius like One Hour Photo and Insomnia
Hunk.
Stay Up at Night on USA as a kid - I fell in love with this baby:
Hunk - a poor schlep is able to reinvent himself as a ladies man - but in the end - it's on the inside that counts............

Gave this same answer a week or so ago: Heathers. Saw it a few years ago after having not seen it since the early 90s, and it was cringe-inducing at points. Not nearly as witty in its subversiveness as I saw it being as a late teen/early twenty-something.
