Majestical season by Ditka's Bears.
Kind of look at it like the '83 Sixers.
Just dominant.
Put that Bears squad up against the Dynast of the Pats in a 10 game playoff - do they win a majority of the time - i.e. at least 6 out of 10.
I go 'No'.
What say you?

The Bears would sweep. The Cheatriots couldn't even beat a double-digit underdog.

The Bears would sweep. The Cheatriots couldn't even beat a double-digit underdog. It's intriguing - pretty much arguably the Greatest D of All-Time against Brady and Belichick and a system.
Don't you think if Da Bears won Game #1 Belichick and Brady and the System would be able to 'adjust'?
Or no?

The Patriots would try to find another way to cheat, but they would still get demolished because the Da Bears' defense was just too dominant. Pats' fans have always tried to argue that if the Pats cheated, then wouldn't they have won every game. But that's an flawed argument. Cheating will help improve your performance but there's a limit to how much improvement. For example, if you took steroids, it may improve your time in the 100-meter dash, but no matter how much steroids you take, you still won't break Usain Bolt's world record in the 100-meter dash. Similarly, cheating helped the Patriots beat the Rams, Eagles, and Panthers (all by 3 points each) in those Super Bowls, but still wouldn't have helped against an all-time great team like Da Bears because Da Bears were just too good. Shady Brady has always struggled against teams that can rush the passer, and rushing the passer is 1 thing that Da Bears excelled at. So Da Bears would've given Shady Brady an even bigger beatdown than the Broncos gave Shady Brady in the 2015 AFC Championship Game (when they hit Shady Brady 20+ times) and would've swept the Patriots.

The 80’s Bears, the great enigma. How a team that talented could only win one title? Yeah, they might have won in 1986 in McMahon hadn’t got hurt. Or they might not have. In the end it comes down to Brady v. McMahon.

Intriguing. Just once in 4 tries. Kelly, Thurman Murman, Reed, Bruce Smith...........

Under the bullshit, Arena football rules of post-2009 NFL, Patriots win 7/10 times.
Under the smashmouth rules of the league in which the '85 Bears played, Bears win 100/100 times.

Anybody can beat anybody once. The 1976 Buccaneers could have beat the Pats once

Interesting indeed.
Do you state this because the QB is no longer allowed to pretty much be touched and we now have instant replay debating on 20 different levels whether a catch is fact a catch?
Or do you state this because it no longer seems that a team is 'run dominant' that concentrates on Great Defense and the Run Game?

60/40 New England. I think Belichick could outcoach Ditka & Buddy, & the Patriots would win their fair share with Brady & co. driving the field. If you're giving the Patriots their best players from 2001-2018, with Ty Law, Randy Moss, Dont'a Hightower, Richard Seymour, etc etc.
The Patriots defeated the Legion of Boom.
I think we could get away with more sports bracket threads like the movie ones. Someone else get on that k thx.

The Patriots defeated the Legion of Boom. The Legion of Boom wasn't as dominant as 85 Bears' defense. The Legion of Boom had a good secondary, although 3/4 of their secondary was playing hurt in that Super Bowl. The 85 Bears' defense dominated offenses with their pass rush. And Brady is well-known to struggle against teams with a dominant pass rush (see Super Bowl XLII vs the Giants' pass rush and the 2015 AFC Championship Game vs the Broncos' pass rush). And the Patriots' only beat the Legion of Boom because Pete Carroll had a brain fart and called the worst play in Super Bowl history. If Da Bears have the ball on the 1-yard line, they're not throwing the ball. They're giving the ball to Sweetness or they might give it to the Refrigerator. Either way, they're running into the end zone for the TD. Da Bears would sweep the Patriots.

Which Patriots team are we talking about specifically here? Because honestly there best team didn't even win the Super Bowl. Also I agree with coldenhaulfield in regards to which era you're playing in. Today the Bears wouldn't be allowed to play defense so there biggest strength would be erased. They'd likely get flagged into oblivion. Players are also a lot more athletic and faster in todays game that I don't think the '85 Bears would be able to keep up. Plus I'd give the Pats the edge with Brady and Belichick. Had they played in the '85 era I'd give it to the Bears because Brady wouldn't be able to handle getting hit without appealing for flags that weren't coming. It's been shown that to get to Brady and that offense you need to disrupt him as much as possible. He wouldn't be able to play the same way he does today as he'd have to then.

That's why I rank Joe Montana as a better QB than Shady Brady. Because Montana played in an era when defenses were actually allowed to play defense and hit the QB without getting flagged while Shady Brady plays in what is basically a flag football era where probably 50% of plays in which a defender touches a QB results in a roughing the passer flag.

Very interesting voting thus far folks
In a 10 game playoff - anyone think it may come down to coaching?
We're not talking one game here.
Who do you go with to make adjustments throughout the playoff and who is the better coach?
Belichick or Ditka?
