Force 10 From Navarone: PG Shows Barbara Bach's breasts. A decapitation scene.
PG-13 wasn't around yet but it should have gotten an R, I think...
Any other examples?

Beetlejuice is rated PG yet still has our title character dropping an F-Bomb.

The ratings for Insidious and The Conjuring got it backwards. Actually, if they gave the former a PG-13, why the latter an R? Both are equally disturbing and unsettling for all ages, so wouldn’t it be the same?
In fact why I think Insidious should get an R is because of the one F-word. Conjuring hasn’t even had one of those IIRC.

Beetlejuice is rated PG yet still has our title character dropping an F-Bomb. In the commentary to The Big Picture, (Have you seen that one? A great and funny underrated movie. Check it out if you haven't yet.) Christopher Guest says that you can get away with one naughty F word to still have it get the PG rating. Two and it's an R. And I think they got away with it either in The Big Pic, BJ or some other PG movie.

Midnight Cowboy and A Clockwork Orange were both rated X.

There Will Be Blood is a pretty light R rating.

Some movies without a single F-bomb (or even any profanity) are still warranted a rating of R. I think there’s a movie that has 3 F-bombs yet is still PG-13 for some reason.

True, but even then the movie was still pretty dark in its tone and features terrifying moments, IMO.

Thank You for Smoking getting an R. If watching a movie makes you want to smoke, you're an idiot.

Like the F-word, PG movies use to be allowed one topless scene before the PG-13 rating came along. I assume this because there are many older PG rated movies that have nudity in them.
Other movies that have a nude scene that are rated PG are Romeo and Juliet (1968) and The Bounty (1984). I know there are more too.

Beetlejuice is rated PG yet still has our title character dropping an F-Bomb. The Tom Hanks movie Big has the F-word clearly used once and yet it's PG.

I'm pretty sure a PG-13 movies can have 2 F words, as long as they're not used sexually. For example, Ocean's Eleven has 2 F words and it's still PG-13.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles would have been probably PG if it weren't for the rental car F-word scene.

I think there’s a movie that has 3 F-bombs yet is still PG-13 for some reason. I think it's safe to say that the MPAA has made some odd choices here and there. It seems to me that Insidious follows the PG-13 rules though. I think The Dark Knight is more deserving of an R-rating than Insidious and The Dark Knight doesn't even have an F-word. I don't remember the specifics of The Conjuring enough to make a comparison.

I haven't seen Insidious, but I remember reading The Conjuring was rated R just because it was scary. It doesn't really have any language, violence, or sexual content that would warrant and R rating.
