Deliver Us From Eva was Rated R for no reason. I don't even think there was a sex scene and barely any cursing.

I know Peter Jackson was really gunning for a PG-13 rating for The Frighteners, but kept getting denied by the ratings board.

Planet of the Apes (1968). Quite violent in many parts, but rated G. 2001: A Space Odyssey should be rated PG. It has barely any violence and no swearing, but the subject matter is very adult. I think The Hunt for Red October should have been rated PG-13 for similar reasons. |

I realize you are joking to an extent, but child nudity IS innocent and non-sexual. Only a pervert would see child nudity in a sexual way. Yes I know but these days even that would be considered porno and unlikely that it would be done.

I was really surprised to learn that Dario Argento's second film The Cat O' Nine Tails got a PG rating in America in 1971, with the graphic violence. I know the violence in it wasn't nearly extreme as in Argento's later films, but still.

'Dragonslayer' (1981) got away with a PG rating despite some fairly gory elements and a brief shot of male frontal nudity.
