She gave very convincing performances in All About Eve and Of Human Bondage, but my favorite performance of hers is Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
I wish we could pick 3.

She gave so many really good performances, but I think Baby Jane is probably my favorite as well.

The Little Foxes. That scene on the stairs is one of the most chilling things I have ever seen.

Never really liked her, but she was gold in the Baby Jane movie. I use "But ya ARE, Blanche!" a lot.

Mr Dirty, look at this trivia I just found:
Thank you for that funny anecdote, Toasted Cheese. There is an entire book that is centered around the lives and personalities and the relationship between Joan and Bette, called "The Divine Feud". It is the funniest thing I have ever read in my life. Basically you could just say that everybody in Hollywood was scared to death of Joan Crawford. That is, everybody except one. Bette Davis wouldn't have backed down if her life depended on it. This is a very funny excerpt from the book. ... While Blanche was being starved to death by her evil sister, Joan lost weight in some areas of her body. As the hollows in her cheeks grew deeper and her waist became smaller, her breasts became larger. "Christ!" said Bette. "You never know what size boobs that broad has strapped on! She must have a different set for each day of the week! She's supposed to be shrivelling away, but her tits keep growing! I keep running into them, like the Hollywood Hills!"

The Little Foxes. That scene on the stairs is one of the most chilling things I have ever seen. That scene was very chilling, indeed. When Regina realizes that she is going to get away with it...

JC wasn't used to people standing up to her and Davis deflated her ego. It's like metaphorically, when dealing with Crawford, Davis stood on her heels, hands on her hips and put her face about 1 mill apart from JC's and bellowed at her. She is what JC needed and Davis could see right through the charade of this phony narcissist. I think I would have been scared of Davis as well, but for other reasons. It would be deep seated respect and awe for her being.
Yes. 100% absolutely. She was the epitome of self-confidence, and in a healthy way. Not off-putting at all, but very magnetic. I love watching her old interviews on Youtube. She's just so much fun. Also, in a later interview, Johnny Carson asked Davis if there was one person she would never want to act with, and Bette said, without so much as a blink, "Yes. One million dollars, Faye Dunaway". It was almost startling and very funny. She said that Dunaway was unprofessional and totally self-serving. You hardly ever hear an actor bad mouth another actor, but Bette Davis could get away with it because she was a soldier to the end. And you knew she had her good reasons.

I would have trusted Davis judgement and by then she was an absolute pro, was shrewd and she knew the mechanism of the industry and the games that got played. If Davis could see un-professionalism and who was self-serving, then I would say that is what it was. I wouldn't put it past her, if she could see similar in Dunaway, to what she saw in Crawford.
It was also really cool to see a legend like Johnny Carson completely be in respect and awe of Miss Davis. (Johnny was a class act himself!)

I put Dangerous which is a very good film. I have to admit though that my first exposure to her was in The Watcher in the Woods. Anyone remember that film?

The Petrified Forest should be on this list, although Howard & Bogart may have slightly overshadowed her there.
