Continue to appreciate the subtleties in his performance. Especially when the crew are having their dinner after Kane wakes up.

When it was revealed he was an android, the movie started world-building before it was even a world.

"Alien" was my introduction to Holm back in '79. I have been a big fan ever since.

When it was revealed [*SPOILER*], the movie started world-building before it was even a world. You should put that in spoilers for board members who have not seen it yet.

It’s a near 40-year-old movie. Whoever hasn’t seen it should have at this point, or at least heard about that twist at some point.

Newer generations should still have surprises left, i.e. the ending of Planet of the Apes. Thanks to 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, it was ruined a while ago.

Yeah, that’s pretty stupid.

What's with that little jog he does early in the film? A sign of his malfunctioning?

Ash - one of the great plot points that wasn't in Dan O'Bannon's original screenplay. O'Bannon is inclined to bitch and moan about his credit for Alien, but without Walter Hill and co behind it, the film would of remained a low budget project and O'Bannon likely unheard of. O'Bannon's Alien wasn't exactly an original idea in the first place.

What's with that little jog he does early in the film? A sign of his malfunctioning? I presumed it was cold and he was trying to get his fluids circulating. Note the design: the first half of the film is cold when we fear things "outside" and need to bundle up, but second half is warm when we fear what is inside.

IMO spoilers belong on things that would spoil a movie if you know them before seeing the movie for the first time. That includes twists and movie endings. The age or popularity of the movie is irrelevant.

Popeye Doyle RE: studios revealing endings … on the VHS cover of the John Wayne version of TRUE GRIT, there is an image of Glen Campbell sprawled out dead on the ground

Of course we know of studios releasing trailers that spoil a movie. Just look at the trailer for "Cast Away".

Just rewatched the movie lat night. I've always been a big fan of Ian Holm in it. He's the MVP in my opinion.

The age or popularity of the movie is irrelevant. I’m sorry, is this 1979? Just because a movie has been around "forever" … not everyone has seen it. It's really easy to NOT openly tell a twist and it's impossible to un-read it when someone has blabbed.
As PopeyeDoyle said earlier in this thread " Should its age matter? Newer generations should still have surprises left."
To answer your question : last I looked it is not 1979 and am wondering why you asked .
