The Phantom Menace as his last masterpiece.

It's not like everytime George has worked in a movie it has sucked. Even when he writes the script without directing, you can tell that he has talent. It all depends on who he works with. A lot of people have said that what separated the prequels from EPISODE IV is that there were too many "yes men." Also, George clearly listens to criticism. He has admitted his flaws in interviews and he gave JAR JAR a smaller role in EPISODES II & III. Therefore, I'm sure he would know what to be careful about in a new movie. Anybody seen Strange Magic? 5/10 I didn’t like how they used real pop songs for the characters to sing as an excuse to make it a musical. At least come up with original content. It was a jukebox musical.

Depends on the pitch. I am not a big fan of George Lucas outside of the Star Wars franchise, Revenge of the Sith being his moral-tale masterwork about the downfall of a society.

I'd give it a shot. Maybe American Graffiti III where all the main cast are now grandparents (or even great-grandparents). Instead of the tag line "where were you in '62" it could be "do you know where you are?" LOL That sounds good, except for that we know Paul LeMat's and Charles Martin Smith's characters wouldn't still be alive today.

LeMat's "Milner" was the most interesting character in the weak sequel. He and Ford's rivalry in the first film was one of more fun parts of the film as well.

He took what was a fun, light-hearted movie and ended it on a downer. It wasn't a documentary, FFS.

I would...so long as it didn't have "Star Wars" in the title.
The guy is a gifted storyteller who experienced a kind of critical acclaim that was unheard of at the time. He created a universe...and was held to staunch criticism by fans asking for explanations for the smallest of things. (Seriously, Star Wars fans don't fvck around) I'm sure as great as "Star Wars" has been for Lucas, it's also been a sort of curse.
If I were him, I'd write/direct/produce something under a pen name. Hard to put into words, and I'm happy for his success with Star Wars, but I bet the guy has more stories he'd like to tell.
So yea, I'd watch it in a heartbeat
