Now it's gonna be "ITS an OLD MOVIE who needs spoilers … blah blah blah ? " answer: anyone who has not seen the movie deserves the courtesy of spoilers ! The end.

I saw that one not too long ago however I forgot why or how he got killed at the end which I thought sucked. I know he got shot to death but was it suicide by cop or was it overkill where they didn't have to shoot him that much? You need to use spoilers, dude. Especially for a movie that is over 60 years old.

I don't believe in or ever use spoilers. It's just common courtesy.

I don't believe in or ever use spoilers. It's just common courtesy. Rosebud was the name of the sled. Darth Vader says that he is Luke's father. And Norman Bates's mother is dead.

Bogart's last film the harder they fall (1956) is an entertaining - if farfetched - indictment on corruption in sport, and the deceptive use of publicity in general. By no means his best film, but the current favorite. Underrated, I reckon.
the enforcer (1951) may not feature great Bogart - he plays an ordinary D.A. type - but it's an evil and compelling crime drama, once it gets going. Recommended to whoever asked.
top 3.. in a lonely place (1950) the treasure of sierra madre (1948) the big sleep (1946)

There was someone on Rotten Tomatoes forums who put the spoilers to movies in the subject titles. Dozens of them.
He sure became unpopular fast.
"Fred C Dobbs don't say nothin' he don't mean."

Mine, too. TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE, and that's saying a lot for an actor who may be in more of my top 200 all time films than any other actor.

Casablanca, my #2 all time.
The Maltese Falcon & The Big Sleep might make my top 100.

Can anyone recommend the Enforcer? That's one of a very small handful of his films I haven't seen. The Enforcer (1951)Thanks for the nice write up. Also regarding the Olive blu ray. I was thinking about picking it up. Also, thanks to biker1 for the recommendation as well.

I know this might not be a popular opinion but I thought Casablanca is quite boring and when I say boring I mean exactly that in that your interest in it is pretty much zero.
I know that movie seems to be acknowledged as a more well known movie from the old days and all but I just got to be honest.
but with that said... I can't comment on anything else since it's the only movie I have seen (well attempted to see) from Bogart. I am in no hurry to see more but it's possible I could see another one or two of his movies in the future at some point or another.
p.s. I attempted to watch Casablanca on Feb 21st 2018 and could not finish due to boredom. I turned it off @ 47 minutes.

The Return of Dr X 1939
I'm not familiar with those other movies mentioned. Frankly they sound made up.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Bogart is one of the "Holy Trinity" of classic films stars, with William Holden and Burt Lancaster. Of all his performances, this one was aces.
Indulge my foul mouth for a moment, kind people. How the purple fuck didn't Bogart get at least a nomination for TTOTSM? You have got to be shitting me? Dan Dailey for When My Baby Smiles at Me and Clifton Webb for Sitting Pretty? REALLY? I'll give you Olivier for Hamlet. Lew Ayres was great in Johnny Belinda and Monty Clift was good in The Search. But Fred C. Dobbs? Poppycock. Few actors (any?) have gone from sane to insane better than Bogart did. And what did he get? Shit and shoved in it.
Sorry

I should go back and review the awards from those years, but my impression is that the Academy voters don't like unlikable villains. Cute villains, majestic villainy: sure. And actors want to be loved, not hated. It is to Bogart's great credit that he was willing to cross the line, as in: The Desperate Hours (1955)
