Does Batman Returns count? Is this the one with Christopher Walken and Danny DeVito?
Not a superhero fan - but can watch anything with Walken and I believe I remember this.
If so - and it's been years - yes - I believe it does count - I'd have to give it a rewatch though.
Didn't Walken go nuts during a Christmas Party scene? Or was that DeVito?
You remember Walken and DeVito but not Michelle Pfeiffer, the hottest comic book movie villainess ever?

Always was a huge fan of DeVito in 'Taxi' - and found him tremendous in Hoffa with Jack Nicholson - if memory serves - he directed it as well. Some may find it slow - I can make this argument about a lot of legendary gangster flicks - don't think Hoffa got the recognition it deserved - great musical score as well.
And Walken is arguably my favorite actor with Penn and Depp - can watch them in anything.

No one is questioning the acting chops of those two fine actors. I’m saying that in an otherwise not great movie, Michelle Pfeiffer stands out. It’s an iconic role for an all time megababe.

Central theme? The plot doesn't revolve around Christmas in the least. The party (and hence the crime) happens to be on Christmas Eve, that's all. Gruber doesn't care that it's Christmas, Christmas plays no part in either the conflict or the plot resolution. It just happens to be Christmas. It was released in July, kind of a strange time to release a Christmas movie. What I mean is that Christmas is still a big part of the movie. McClane references Christmas often and some of his famous quotes from the movie are Christmas themed. The entire party, the environment in and outside the building, etc. are all revolved around the movie taking place on Christmas. I would venture to say that if you remove Christmas from the movie, that it would be a different film with a different tone. Lethal Weapon does not have that. Lethal Weapon could take place in March and it would be the same exact movie. That is the difference. A few of the one liners would be different, that's all. Christmas doesn't really affect the plot at all. If it took place in March, McClane could leave a note that read, "Erin Go Bragh, now I have a machine gun." (Ok, I just turned McClane into an IRA terrorist but you see my point.

I am a big fan of 80s era PAM. Big fan. Loved her in Other People’s Money and Kindergarden Cop. But she’s no Michelle Pfeiffer. Michelle Pfeiffer today, at 60 years old, is better looking than 97% of current Hollywood actresses.

Christmas made the movie that much more epic and is part of the movies charm and overall substance - a relationship on the rocks as a husband is traveling to the West Coast to visit his estranged wife during Christmas.
Stating this is not a Christmas movie is like having 'Predator' without the Predator.

Walken with the legendary Dennis Hopper:
I love that scene from True Romance, although I caught that movie recently and the whole thing overall hasn't aged particularly well, despite some standout small performances from Walken, James Gandolfini and particularly Gary Oldman. Good movie, but not as good as I remembered it being. Dennis Hopper is a fine actor who has done some good work, but legendary? Doesn't stack up. Love him in Apocalypse Now though. I also used to feel that way about Johnny Depp, but then somewhere along the line he became a complete caricature of himself. He stopped acting and started wearing funny hats and mugging for the camera. I'm not sure exactly when it happened, maybe circa Sleepy Hollow, but now I can't see past him in any movie. He no longer sinks into his roles, but rather the roles transform to accommodate his persona. Not sure I'm describing it sufficiently.

To me (and loving Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow) when he wasn't being 'cartoonish' - I thought he was great in Donnie Brasco and Public Enemies.
To a lesser extent 'Blow' - and I seem to be one of the few fans of Secret Window (think it was a Stephen King short story too).....

Johnny Depp was great in Blow and the few other movies where he plays it straight. I’m not a huge fan of the Pirates movies but I dig the Keith Richards-ness he brings to the role. But how many Tim Burton movies can one be in before you stop taking him seriously? It’s like those movies are how he jerks off or something.

Every aspect of this conversation is tiresome. As far as I'm concerned if a film is set at Christmas, regerences the holiday and has Christmas songs, it's a Christmas film. You can argue that any film that isn't about Santa Clause or the birth of Christ is a movie set at Christmas rather than about Christmas. Macauley Culkin's parents could have been going on a holiday at any time of year. George Bailey could have gotten suicidal on Thanksgiving or New Year's Eve or any other holiday. A selfish old prick could have been set right by spirits in his sleep on any day of the year. A young kid might have wanted a cool present for his birthday, not Christmas. They're considered Christmas movies because of the setting and the tone, just like Die Hard.
As for snow being needed: I'm an Aussie. My main Christmas memories are not being able to sleep not out of excitement, but out of it being 100° and our home not having Air Conditioning.

Does Batman Returns count? It's definitely more Christmasy than either of the op's choices. Max Shreck tossing presents to people. Christmas trees and lights and gifts everywhere. Bruce Wayne using mistletoe to grope Selina Kyle. Also who wouldn't want to unwrap that vinyl Cat suit off Catwoman? Mmmmmmmm

She licks his fucking face.
