Somebody has finally done it.
All day Die Hard Marathon on Christmas from the IFC Channel - just like how we get an all day Groundhog Day Marathon
Can't believe this hasn't been done with Planes, Trains and Automobiles on Thanksgiving.

I've really gotten tired of this discussion over the years. Just like the "is a hot dog a sandwich?" It's been done to death. It's become the cool thing to say it's a Christmas movie. To me? No, it's not. There is a difference between a Christmas movie that involves the spirit and joy of Christmas compared to a movie that simply takes place around Christmas time.
If you qualify movies like Die Hard or Lethal Weapon as Christmas movies then you have to include basically all of Shane Black's catalog including Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Nice Guys, Iron Man 3 etc. None of which in my mind qualify as Christmas movies.

Lethal Weapon is not a Christmas movie. It is almost easy to forget it even takes place over the holidays. They are really not a factor in the movie at all. Die Hard, on the other hand, is a Christmas movie. Christmas is a central theme in the movie. Without Christmas in Lethal Weapon, it would be the same exact movie. Die Hard without Christmas is not Die Hard.

Saying that Die Hard is a Christmas movie is like saying that the movie Independence Day celebrates the US declaring it’s independence from England. They are not Christmas movies.

Lethal Weapon could take place in March and it would be the same exact movie. That is the difference. |

Not a superhero fan - but can watch anything with Walken and I believe I remember this.
If so - and it's been years - yes - I believe it does count - I'd have to give it a rewatch though.
Didn't Walken go nuts during a Christmas Party scene? Or was that DeVito?
