(1987) Killing Birds
(1986) Nightmare Weekend
(2016) 1974 La Posesión De Altair limited edition w slipbox, CD & mini lobby/poster cards
(1974) The Freakmaker DiabolikDVD exclusive w slipcover & mini poster cards
(1975) The Reincarnation of Peter Proud
(1974) Deranged
(1978) High-Ballin'
Motel Hell is so much damn fun. Wolfman Jack's televangelist almost steals the movie for me. The hilarious swingers. Wearing a real butchered hog's head for a mask and dueling chainsaws..oohwee!
Killing Birds aka Zombi 5. One of seemingly dozens of unofficial sequels to Fulci's Zombi 2, thanks to producer/studios looking to cash in by slapping the Zombi title on it. Originally called Raptors. Trailer looks fun though. I cannot resist old zombie movies.
Nightmare Weekend seems universally hated but again, I love what I see in its trailer. I flipped its wrap to the artwork with the girl in front of a computer. The other art makes it look like its an evil spirit in the woods type movie, when its not. The mutant fx look gnarly.
I'm not a big fan of found footage but there are exceptions and 1974 is one of them (I hope). Trailer was so creepy and gave off such a sense of dread that I shelled out for the preorder limited edition with some swag.
The Freakmaker I've known of (as its alternate title The Mutations) since I was in 4th or 5th grade and it had a page in a book about movie monsters I checked out frequently from the school library. Excited to watch this in October. My second favorite Dr. Who Tom Baker is in it and has the great Donald Pleasence as a mad scientist mixing humans with plants.
Deranged is the second movie in this haul based on the crimes of Ed Gein. Or maybe Motel Hell is a comedic spin on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Anyway, Deranged is on equal footing with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in my book. The scene where we see Ezra in his skin suit made me jump big time the first time I saw it.
Can't help but feel sorry for him in the beginning though. He could have had a happy life if he could of just gotten his head straight and got over his mother's death. Instead of being lonely he could've lived happily ever after, fucking away with that plump 'n horny phoney medium.
I love the rural farm and snowy setting and the occasional on screen appearance of the narrator adds to the documentary feel. Roberts Blossom nailed the role of Ezra.
High-Ballin' is a late 70s trucker action/comedy starring Jerry Reed, Peter Fonda and Helen Shaver. Looks right up my alley. I like these type of movies and have very very vague but fond memories of wacthing BJ and the Bear and Sherifff Lobo tv series as a young lad.
