Not really impress with those posters honestly. What do you look for in posters or do you not really care?

I happen to like the Ragnarok poster, but you're right. That first Thor poster is a thing of beauty. Quality of poster ≠ Quality of movie. Who knew??! Hey. I loved the first Thor movie best of all. Probably still my fav Marvel. I didn't know there was a Thor movie in the works until I saw the trailer. I was horrified they would screw it up. Iron Man, Spidey, X-Men, I didnt care as much, but Thor was special to me. I mean, Marvel did so well by him in the Hulk tv movie... So I was going to see it after it had been out a few weeks, but my kid managed to get into a preview that Wednesday & ssid I would like it. So I saw it opening weekend. I saw it 8 times in the theater before it was pulled. Just the experience of seeing it on the big screen added to the enjoyment. I watched the dvd every day the first week I had it.

That actually made me LOL
In regards to Thor 1 being pretty serious, I'm surprised to see you think that. Aside from the Asgard stuff, I thought the movie was pretty silly considering it was directed by Branagh. All the New Mexico scenes felt out of place. There is a scene where the Warriors Three find Thor on Earth and they look like a bunch of doofs. It felt like something I would've seen during the first half of season 1 of Agents of SHIELD.
I completely understand why some people don't like Ragnarok. But the reason I like it is because it's actually TRYING to be goofy and funny. Would I preferred a more serious take on the material? Definitely. But the first one is just unintentionally silly. At least in my opinion.
I remember the last time I watched Thor thinking it felt like an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D with an unusually high budget. Yeah Lady Sif was on a couple episodes of AoS and I remember thinking she actually looked better on the show than in the movies lol.

thor 1 was pretty serious. jokenock...well. Well it was significantly better. It's no surprise that the consensus is that Ragnarok was easily the best of three and vastly more successful because of it. in the real world of comic movies and norse mythology ragnarok is the worse.
did the first two films have issues. yes but at least they had the real content of thor and his fantasy mythos.
thor 3 was just gotg part 3 in a bad way. the movie should not have been a comedy.
also this is when the critics bias became more obvious, how critics can give a pass to making a joke out of the name ragnarok is just a lie.

It needed to be. People thought Thor was decent but Thor Dark World is probably still considered the worst of all the MCU movies. Out of Thor, Captain America and Iron Man it is Thor who was the least popular of them. They changed it for the third movie and it paid off. They ended up with the best of the three movies and Thor himself became all the popular ever since. Ragnarok isn't a real event so they can critics aren't going to care about how it's treated. Its not 9/11.

things began to get too bright after the disney influence. www.allposters.com/=Movie%20Posters20Movie%20Posters8Sorry. A LOT of "adult" films had bright posters. Gone With The Wind is a kiddie movie? Terminator is a kiddie movie? Caddyshack is a kid movie? We know the influence Star Wars has on Feige. The Hildebrandt poster was overall blue with colors. Many Marvel studios posters run a similar palette.

from a film making, comics and norse mythology stand point. thor 1 is still the best film.
I will give TDK or DOFP a fail if they did not follow the name of their movie.

Not really impress with those posters honestly. What do you look for in posters or do you not really care? The Art work mostly. That's something really lacking with a lot of modern movie posters. Great Art Work.

Akin to the cinematic vs 48 FPS issue? Yeah I'm not a big fan of the Photoshop posters that have become a popular thing with films. I preferred the posters we got from artist like Richard Amsel and Drew Struzan.

Like look at the episode 7 poster and compare it to the original Star Wars.
It's a fucking joke.

How? I thought you were being sarcastic. I'm not seeing anything special or notable about that Thor poster.
