Will write and direct a standalone Batgirl movie for the DCEU.
Wow. What a face turn. This is like when Scott Hall showed up on Monday Nitro to announce the formation of the nWo.

And then WB will interfere and we'll end up getting a "Director's Cut" that supposedly fixed everything, except not.

"You people, you know who I am. But you don't know why I'm here. Where is Billionaire Bob [Harris]? Where is that Kansas hick, Clark Kent? That punk can't even beat a watered-down version of Doomsday. Me? I go wherever I want, whenever I want. And where, oh where, is the Batman? 'cause I've got a storyline for you. When that Ken doll lookalike -- when that weather man wannabe, Snyder, comes out here later tonight? I've got a challenge for him, for Billionaire Bob, for Blunder Woman, and for anybody else in the 'Dea-uh Cee Ee-uh Yoo' huh, huh, huh. Hey: you wanna go to war? You want a war? You're gonna get one."

Looks like MarvelRaptor is boiling HOT over this news! Not really. 1) Marvel doesn't need Whedon aymore. 2. He's been out of the picture for a while now. 3) He's already been replaced by the Russos. So... How is this a loss again?

And people wonder why we weren't able to get any peace between the DC and Marvel sides. It's because of this asshole, people, Dennis Reynolds.

Don't know how he can "ditch" Marvel for DC when he had pretty much already quit after AoU.

Could this turn the tide for DC? Could DC once again be the dominant superhero movie brand (as it was from the late-70s until the day The Avengers was released, in my view) by 2020? Bearing in mind everything -- everything! -- the MCU's done has been prologue to a two-part mega movie extravaganza the scope and like of which we've never seen before on the big screen.
It's going to be an interesting few years.

Bearing in mind everything -- everything! -- the MCU's done has been prologue to a two-part mega movie extravaganza This sentence could be interpreted in 2 ways: 1. It's completely false. The MCU has been delivering good to great movies perfectly capable of standing alone. Just so happens they are interconnected. 2. It's completely true. Meaning the MCU's "prologues" are better than majority of other studios' full superhero movies.

Meaning the MCU's "prologues" are better than majority of other studios' full superhero movies. 3. The MCU has been delivering good to great movies for the most part* perfectly capable of standing alone that, when viewed consecutively prior to the Thanos movies, will be enriched in different and cumulative way that makes the Thanos movies a unique experience for those fans, for whom in that moment the proceeding events are all "prologue" to this even bigger, and more collective, event. [ And then, in the context of my original post: Will DC acquiring Whedon be enough to tip the scales when Marvel's cashing in on ten years' worth of story equity for two epic Thanos movies during this same time period?] *"Capable" is weird choice of wording and not what I would've used; because, like, Iron Man 3 makes narrative sense in and of itself but obviously makes way more sense if you watch the first two, and so on. Edited to add: actually, in the Iron Man 3 example, you would probably substitute "the first Avengers movie" for "the first two [Iron Man movies]," since really the events of IM3 are a direct result of what happens in The Avengers. So that's the more "pertinent" film, but you get my point, I hope.
