I was referring to your “what did you expect from a movie with Jason Momoa and Amber Heard” statement. That implies that you apparently never had high expectations for the movie to begin with, which kind of contradicts your previous posts. Hope can be blind and illogical I suppose. It doesn’t sound like you ever had “hope”. It kind of sounds like you were trolling the entire time.

It’s related to faking the moon landing and the flats earthers because it’s a bunch of bull. An alternate complaint that’d be warranted is that Marvel has a “appeal to all ages, don’t upset the masses” formula. They play it safe. Each individual movie is rated fairly, the problem seems to be people are miffed they’ve made so many ina row that aren’t stinkers. Watching CNN and noticing that the people there don’t report news objectively is factual. Saying a movie isn’t as good as someone else thought it was is entirely subjective. Because you don’t like a certain cookie cutter basis that clicks for general audience doesn’t automatically make to bad. Marvel’s reviews aren’t that it’s the best ever, they’re that people won’t hate them. RT is a “what’s the odds I’ll hate this movie” site. You can enjoy a Snyder film, but to claim it’s built to appeal to all ages/points of view/both genders you know isn’t entirely correct. Marvel makes cornbread while DC makes incredible Jalapeño loaf when 1/2 the world can’t handle spicy food is fair. People going into Marvel movies with most of their positive review already written is stupid. I don't think I can go with the bread analogy, dude. It makes the DCU sound more like movies directed by Lars Von Trier or Takashi Miike. I'd say the MCU and DCU are like 2 buildings constructed on the opposite sides of the same street. The MCU building is built with almost regimental precision and passers by look up at it and smile as they go about their day. The DCU building is more of a ramshackle carbuncle, pieced together by a catalogue of cowboy builders, which most passers by look away from in horror while a minority of devotees raise a glass of cheer to it's unique visage. My favorite analogy of the MCU and DCEU is that they're both burgers. The difference is that the MCU puts their burger patty in buns, slaps some nice semi-melted cheese on it, then some onions and pickles, some dressing and then serve it to you as a cheeseburger. They'll even include some nicely cooked fries and your favorite soda in the package. The DCEU, on the other hand, puts their burger patty on a plate and serves it with mashed potatoes and gravy like it was steak. They'll make you eat it with fork and knife, even pour you some ginger ale in a wine glass then dim all the lights so you can pretend you're fine dining. In the end though, they're still both just burger patties. Some DC fans like to think they're eating a form of exquisite delicacy whereas majority of MCU fans are just happy to acknowledge that they're enjoying a nice, juicy cheeseburger. The biggest mistake the DCEU made is cooking their burger patties medium rare, forgetting that it wasn't a real steak. This under-cooked meal turned off a lot of potential customers. However, with the advent of Wonder Woman and Aquaman, and from what we saw of Shazam, it seems that DC is finally realizing that what they serve is burger patties and not actual steak, and so they're spending more time to cook it properly. They also started to realize that people might want to drink other flavors of soda other than ginger ale, and that maybe some people like to eat dinner with a bit more light. And maybe adding some fries as a side dish isn't so bad an idea as well. The biggest lightbulb moment of all was DC realizing that if they pretend to be a fine dining restaurant, people will have much higher expectations of them than if they just acknowledged that they were a burger joint in the first place.

I predicted a fresh score with good box office in the prediction thread. This is the entire problem with the dc v marvel crap. I say the movie wasn’t amazing, and you define that as trolling. I repeatedly said it wasn’t horrible, it’s not the worst DCEU movie, and 2/3 of the critics enjoying it is about right. Why is that trolling? Because I haven’t seen it 15 times and I dont think it’s as good as The Godfather?

Personally I think its insanity. There's no fucking way in hell that Aquaman rates as low as The Incredible Hulk or Thor the Dark World. It tops both those movies in EVERY way. This further confirms that critics are biased in favor of MCU. MCU movies are always over-rated because of critic bias in favor of MCU. That doesn't really explain why Wonder Woman got rated so high then...

I don't care what the critics think. At all. That doesn't play into anything whatsoever for me. I love both the MCU and DCEU and want them both to succeed. I thought Aquaman was fantastic and right up there with the best entries of the MCU. Whether anyone else agrees or not holds no weight at all for me and I don't see why it should.

I sure as hell never said anything about Marvel.

It doesn’t have to be directed at marvel to reflect the apprehensive and reactionary nature of the fans here. Something that’s been pent up because of the praise of the other brother. And Amber heard was genuinely disappointing in the movie.

I wouldn’t have cared if you had simply said that you were disappointed by the movie. It’s your contradictory “what did you expect” remark that rubs me the wrong way. Also, once again, I will point out that the OP is the one who made the Marvel comparisons, not me.

After finally watching it, I have to say it doesn't deserve such a low rating. This is at least mid tier MCU quality.

The thumbs up thumbs down percentage is too low, but the 6/10 rating isn't that far off. I'd say 6.5 to 7 out of 10, IMHO. Which puts it square in the middle of other Comic Book Movies.
