Why would you compare it to movies of other genres? Even LOGAN, where the superhero genre is secondary. And it's interesting that you use THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING and DUNKIRK as examples. I love both, but most people consider the former to be solid but not best-of-the-year material and the latter to be a technical spectacle with no story or characters to be invested in. Im giving you the 2 main type of films that are "oscar worthy" by looking at what the academy always picks each year. They are either biopocs/heavy character studies like Theory of everything, American Sniper, Imitation Game, Whiplash, Arrival. Or they are films that excel in the technical aspects of film making, like Dunkirk with its battlefield visuals, Birdman with its camerawork, Mad Max with its stuntwork, La La Land with its musical style or The Revenant for its natural light cinematography. Black panther is none of those things. Its not a developed character study - it only touches upon what Tchala thinks and reacts as much as a typical popcorn movie will allow. Theres no depth to his character that is needed for Best Picture calibre. Same with Killmonger who is simply the angry black man sterotype. And black panther is not a technical masterpiece, those CGI rhinos and video game fight at the end looks like child play compared to Dunkirk or Blade Runner 2049. Black panther is only getting nominated for diversity, race baiting and ratings boosts.

I think people are missing the bigger picture here.
Christan Bale, former and BEST live action Batman, thanked Satan during his acceptance speech.
That's the only most important thing about the Golden Globes!

Even though I'm a fan of Black Panther and am happy with it's success, I'm shocked anybody would think it was going to get anything more than just a nomination at the Globes or Oscars.
A comic book movie hasn't been worthy of an Oscar win since The Dark Knight, IMO.

Black panther is only getting nominated for diversity, race baiting and ratings boosts. How do you explain then the dozens of award organizations that don't telecast a ceremony? And how do you explain the hundreds of categories from different organizations that B.P. could've been nominated in and won, but instead got a few nominations instead?

The voters are afraid of being labeled as racist. You can be a labeled a sexist and still be forgiven. We have 2 male Supreme Court justices who were accused of sexual harassment/misconduct but still got their nominations confirmed. Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted to molesting women on movie sets and still got elected Governor twice. Heck, Donald Trump talked about "grabbing pussy" and still got elected POTUS. But if you're labeled a racist, that's career suicide. Donald Sterling made some racist remarks and was forced out as owner of the LA Clippers. Rosanne Barr was fired for racist comments. Megyn Kelly was fired for what was perceived to be a racist comment. That's why voters voted for Black Panther. Because they're afraid of being labeled as a racist if they don't vote for Black Panther.

There is no comparison between two individuals actually saying something racist, and someone making an anonymous vote for a film that wasn't about black people.

If Green Book is already an film to nominate to play the race card, why are they also nominating Black Panther? Not to mention Blackkklansman is another "black" film.

Black Panther was the biggest game changer in African culture perhaps ever in Hollywood history.

Now do people understand why Black Panther is getting all these award nominations? Because MCU fanatics go ape**** crazy when anything negative about Black Panther is said in the public forum. Critics and academy members, who are mostly white and feel guilty for years of white washing film awards, get intimidated so in turn they will give Black Panther over-praise than what it really deserves. This ends up with all these award recognitions in the major categories you are seeing now, and may unfortunately lead to an Oscar best picture nomination. But it will be a pity nomination because of race baiting nature of black panther - just like Get Out was, an average horror flick that somehow got a Best Picture nom, because it pandered to the political black lives matter movement as Black Panther is doing. Not to say any predominant black film is race baiting, I think Moonlight absolutely deserved its nomination and win, because its a brilliantly crafted movie - Black panther and Get out were mediocre.
Oh and by the way to all the black panther fans who think the movie deserved the GG win and an Oscar Nom, how do you feel about Bohemian Rhapsody beating it and being the surprise controversial winner - a movie directed by Bryan Singer who was fired 2 weeks before filming wrapped up. A movie which many SJWs are upset when they found out it won because they think it shouldn't get any recognition due to Singers (alleged) accusations in the timesup/metoo era yet it still won.
it is time that they shared our pain in passed over for so many prestigious awards

Are we allowed to describe a fan group as "fanatics" now? I am pretty sure I know I have had posts edited or removed for using this description in the past.

Are we allowed to describe a fan group as "fanatics" now? So you want more ticky-tack and unnecessary censorship, like back in the days of the Comics Code Authority?

Given that we do have censorship on these message boards, I think everyone should be treated the same.

The only difference being that the post was either edited or it was removed.
Time for an official ruling please, scabab.

The behaviour shown by these people is fanatical so yea, they are MCU/Black panther stans/fanatics. As has been pointed out in this thread, none of those people identified themselves as 'MCU fans.' Many of those twitter posts mention other, non-MCU films as well. Considering the numbers BP put up, it's safe to assume it was the first MCU film for a significant portion of the audience. Regardless, those people complaining don't mention the MCU. But what am I doing arguing this? I don't even understand what your point is. People complain on the internet? What a revelation.

If Trump lies, and I repeat what he said as if it's fact (when I know it's total bull), I'm just as guilty. Knowingly disseminating a falsehood is just as bad as cooking it up for click bait in the first place. They can be fans of the character without being MCU fans. And again, what does this prove? There are nutjob MCU fans out there, we've had more than a few on this board. Remember the people making death threats to critics over negative reviews of TDKR? I guess all Batman fans are crazy?
