Well, how many times they repeat this fear mongering not many people outside of JW community is gonna take this propaganda of world coming to an end and "Witnesses are going to live on earth forever" nonsense. Here in India, we have all sorts of idiots, liars, corrupt people (though not as much as in 1800s) but we have not discovered this great trend that the world is in its last days and everything started changing after 1914s. In short, I feel amused when I hear that a community is peddling this garbage. More amused that the missionaries of this community try to propagate their agenda and then when you don't agree with them then they say we are not caring about the world because of our "selfish desires". Are you amused when a community peddles the "global warming" garbage? I forgot that the end of the world that you envision comes through from Nibiru or planet X rather than anything else.

PHD_DE rightfully pointed out that Tas-10 was indulging in quoting mining.
Here's a short refutation of the idiot Tas_10 points that any one with common sense will agree.
Wait.... Is kingons really Tas-10?... Is Phludowin really PHD-DE? That would explain a lot. It's a common emotional stance.... That in of itself is a sign of a problem of some sort... Cold statistics don't always have the answer to everything.... and it doesn't mean that those people are necessarily wrong. Everything is relative and based on perspective.. And their perspective is their own. ... You don't know where his grandparents lived.Y
Yes, Looking for Klingons is Tas-10. Phludowin has never denied being PHE_De from the old boards.
I am kinda bored of this thread, mate. So over and out from me. Won't post any more on this thread. Will meet you all on other threads. Have a good day.

I find this post irrational, unfounded in any evidence, off topic, and pushing your own personal barrow against another poster. I see no foundation in truth. Well, how many times they repeat this fear mongering not many people outside of JW community is gonna take this propaganda of world coming to an end and "Witnesses are going to live on earth forever" nonsense. More amused that the missionaries of this community try to propagate their agenda and then when you don't agree with them then they say we are not caring about the world because of our "selfish desires". I get hated for it on here, because I am said to be anti-American (despite having VERY close familial connections with that great country) BUTT I can't help butt reach out to the non-Americans on this board such as yourself Phe De some Scandinavians. some Canadians etc etc when I look at the parochial, small minded America centric views that are propounded on here on a regular basis. I like many of them butt their views are so limited due to the last couple of centuries of isolationism in America. Trump has plugged into this patriotism, ego-centrism and sincere belief that America is the centre of the modern universe. It is SO entrenched, along with a new wave of anti-intellectualism, bigotry against other races and religions, and a unique form of Republican far right conservative religion fundamentalism I find it very sad, misguided and anti-progress. This is manifested in all the conspiracy theories who are against government, scholarships, co-operative military and trade agreements, and things that we need in the modern world to solve WORLD problems. America need to pull its head in on military aggression and go for co-operation with the other first world nations to promote progress.

I wouldn't call the quotes in the OP "articles". I prefer calling them "results of extensive quote-mining". Some were from smart and influential people; but they don't contain much hard data. None at all, in fact. These quotes are mostly quotes about how people felt about before and after 1914. I am not disputing that some people feel bad about before and after 1914. You seem to be an example for them. What none of these quotes says or pretends to say, is that the world today is worse off than the world before 1914. looking4klingons I wouldn't worry too much about this asshat's opinion... He just spent the last 2 pages pretending that the very real possibility of a nuclear exchange doesn't exist because it was brought by a religious person. It's a good bet that if you (or any other theist) were to start a thread about how God has blessed the 20th & 21st century with ever-increasing peace and prosperity... he'd be on it with those very same links (or ones very much like them) claiming that you're nuts because the world is going to hell in a handbasket. An interesting interpretation. Completely unfounded in truth, as others pointed out, but sometimes, fiction is entertaining. Thanks for making me smile.

So, the "cold" global statistics don't mean that someone is wrong as long as his grandparents' neighborhood has gone downhill, huh? So, the cold statistics show that he's wrong, But the fact that he's arguing with his emotions rather than statistics now becomes evidence that he's right?!Your long time willingness to ignore common sense in order to defend The Watchtower is reaching new heights.

And your desire to always see it as wrong has turned you stupid. The world isn't the same for everybody.... The Eloi have a complete different perspective on life than The Morlocks do... and even peace comes at a price for some. For a lot of people the world is moving at too fast a pace to keep up... many are falling behind... and being forgotten. What?... You think Detroit is better off than it was 50 years ago?.. Flint?.. You think the people of San Pedro Sula, Honduras just love being in the "Most Dangerous City In The World... statistically speaking? Statistics of peace don't mean shit when your town is over-run with gangs and violence... or war. You can pat yourself on the back with those statistics while standing in the middle of a Syrian battle zone, can you? Second off... Go fuck yourself... at what point have I said that The Watchtower was right and we now in the 105th year of "The Last Days"?... but, once again... Just the thought of The Watchtower has made you stupid. EDIT:And, at no point, am I denying those statistics... I'm just pointing out that they aren't the beacon of hope for everyone.. and the demand that they are, just to spite the religious, is asinine. Hell... I don't even think that The Watchtower denies those statistics... They love to point out that one of the last thing to happen in the last days is a cry of "Peace and Security".

I'm sure dangling keys in front of you would have that same effect. When your main line of defense is being defended by Goz... you need to rethink your path in life.. Hell.... According to your own dumbassed standard: You failed to show evidence that you wouldn't do exactly as I said if the religious person's outlook was more cheery... so, you're still wrong.

Second off... Go fuck yourself... at what point have I said that The Watchtower was right and we now in the 105th year of "The Last Days"?... but, once again... I never said that you "said that The Watchtower was right". So, spare us all the whining straw man argument. I quoted what you actually DID say. And I pointed out how ridiculous it is for you to credit an individual's (or their grandparents') personal experience as carrying anywhere near the weight of evidence of factual global statistics. And I further pointed how ridiculous is YOUR NOTION that his emotion, rather than statistics, now becomes evidence in his favor. You have diagnosed your own problem there, not mine.

All I said was that the individual's perspective is their own... based on their own experience... That doesn't make them wrong.. even in the face of some statistic. Once gain... You're being a dumbass in the name of just being a dumbass, Mr. "Nerp! What u sed applyes to u! G'derp!" EDIT: And you're seriously gonna cry like a little bitch because I responded to your " Your long time willingness to ignore common sense in order to defend The Watchtower is reaching new heights" with a " I never said the Watchtower was right"?? Jesus Christ. - "HOW DARE YOU ASSUME THAT I THINK THAT YOU AGREE WITH THE THING THAT I SAY YOU ARE ALWAYS DEFENDING!! YOU HAVE WOUNDED BY DELICATE NATURE, SIR!!.... MOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMY!!!"

And further, you said, "Everything is relative and based on perspective.." in defense of personal experience as a valid counter argument to global statistics in a thread that set out to make global assertions. All the sneering and name calling that you can dish out doesn't change what you have been trying to argue.

No.. Klingon cited a quote from his grandparents... a very common sentiment held by many... and Al June cited statistics as if K's grandparents were wrong because his statistics said they should be. I'm pointing out the fact that THEY MIGHT NOT BE WRONG... in spite of the statistics. ed: (They might have to lock their doors now, when in the past, they didn't) But... Once again, because this conversation was started by a religious person... We have the same dumbassed fucknuts crying "THIS CAN NOT BE!!" But it is... and you're just a fucknut of the dumbassed variety.

One thing I appreciate from this thread and the other one is once again stats suck as an argument since there is such a massive need to round up to 100%.
I’m not sure I’ve seen so much wrong in so few pages.

They're saying he's wrong because he's religious! Trying to reinvent a whole thread because you're starting to see your own foolishness is another tactic (along with the name calling) that won't change anything.

Yes, asshole... It's not reinventing the thread... It's an accurate description of this aspect of the tread... You have idiots denying the threat of nuclear war simply because it's in a religious discussion. You have idiots denying the fact that a lot of neighborhoods have "gone bad" because it's in a religious discussion. You have idiots denying other people their own personal perspective because it's in a religious discussion. And yes.. They are idiots for doing these things.... because it's in a religious discussion.
