This is only the second thread I’ve started on IMDB 2, so apologies if this is in the wrong place or if one for this show has already been started elsewhere (I did search for one in other subsections, as was suggested to me, and I also tried searching threads/posts containing the words ‘Charlie’s Angels’, but couldn’t find any threads specifically for this show anywhere). I’ve only recently started watching this show (from the beginning of Season 2 onwards, because I missed the first season) thanks to repeats on the TV where I am. I like all three female leads and they’re the reason I’m watching, as quite a few of the guest stars haven’t been overly impressive thus far. The latest episode I watched was ‘Angel Flight’. The one before that, ‘Pretty Angels All in a Row’, managed to get that ‘Miss Chrysanthemum Pageant’ song stuck in my head. I’ve already decided my favourite Angel is Kelly Garrett played by Jaclyn Smith (she's gorgeous, and what great hair she has! All the better to flip with). ![]() ![]() ![](http://i.imgbox.com/av2f1rfy.gif) As someone who is ‘new’ to watching this show, I was just curious as to whether there was anyone else who has tuned into it rather late in the game, as I have, or whether most people watched it when growing up. If so, did you enjoy it (despite its ‘flaws/cheesiness’)? Did you have a favourite episode/season? Who was your favourite Angel?

I watched it a bunch in the 80's through reruns and when I was younger. I'm considering giving it another look because it's been so long. My gripe with it the last time I viewed was that I didn't find the girls to be all that believable as detectives. I felt like they'd start hammering people with questions within 5 minutes of being undercover. Like people would spot them from miles away as being on a case undercover. But the stories were great and the women were great. So maybe I'm being unfair in my judgment and will see what I think the next time I watch. Jaclyn smith was a goddess. She is my favorite.

I like it although, Hackett wasn't on the level of the rest for me at all.

I guess I just never really thought of giving it a chance before now, but I happened to catch some of one episode on TV and, despite any 'flaws' it may have had, I still quite enjoyed it. So I have been watching ever since (though I record it rather than watch it live, as then I'm able to fast-forward through the ad breaks...and any boring bits in the episodes. As I previously mentioned, some of the guest stars' acting leaves a lot to be desired, but I do enjoy the three Angels and their interaction with each other/Bosley/other characters, so I never skip a scene with any of the three leading ladies in it. With anything I do fast-forward past, I'm usually able to pick up the gist of what I missed via dialogue from the Angels). Yes, I certainly don't try to apply any 'real world logic' to any of the scenarios when watching the show. I just sit back and enjoy the show for what it is, as I find it to be quite good 'fun'. That she is. Though I like all three Angels. It's nice to see when they're being clever and kicking butt, and I love their camaraderie. Please forgive my ignorance, but who is ‘Hackett’?

Don't want to speak for hi224, but I'm thinking that perhaps he meant Shelly Hack?

I like it although, Hackett wasn't on the level of the rest for me at all. Yes, Buddy Hackett made an ugly 4th Angel.

I'm actually quite enjoying watching the show for the first time. Yes, there has some 'cringe-worthy' stuff going on (I'd say the worst offenders are the oh-so-obvious stunt doubles for the Angels. Although I do recall reading somewhere that Kate Jackson liked to perform her own stunts if she was able...sadly the same couldn't be said for the other two, as it's immediately obvious when it's their stunt doubles/men in wigs).
I also read about the stuff going on between Kate Jackson and Cheryl Ladd behind the scenes, and while the Angels constantly being broken up into teams of two - which most often consisted of Kelly/Kris and Sabrina/Bosley or Kelly/Sabrina and Kris/Bosley - would seem to back that up, when Sabrina and Kris *did* share scenes together, both actresses never seemed to let any sense of negative feelings between them come across onscreen. I thought the cast had nice chemistry together (at least when they were together). Kelly is still my favourite, but I find Kris quite endearing as well. Sabrina seems to be the 'thinker' of the group.
It's also interesting seeing actors I'm familiar with now guest starring on the show back in their early years. The episode I'm watching today has two - Jamie Lee Curtis and Ray Wise (who I mostly know from the TV series Reaper, but have seen in quite a few other things too).

Watching the show in my pre-teen years, I always thought Jaclyn Smith was the best looking of the bunch. Cheryl Ladd came along later and was the 2nd best looking in my book. ...Funny, when I was a pre-teen, Kate Jackson did absolutely nothing for me. But now as an adult, I find her very attractive.

Well, we started Season 4 with Tiffany Welles a week or so ago here and...I actually don’t mind her. She’s definitely different to the others, and it was a bit of an adjustment having her just appear and Sabrina disappear, but I certainly don’t think she’s that bad. She did seem a little awkward/stiff in the first few episodes with her, but one of the more recent episodes I saw was with the Angels being trapped on an island and hunted for sport, and there Tiffany made a declaration of friendship (then almost ‘died’) and I actually felt a bit sorry for her. I found this to be an interesting read about the character: charliesangels.org/tiffany/I am glad that at least now the three Angels can actually share scenes/interact *together* and not have such obvious splitting up like when Sabrina was around (because of whatever ‘issues’ between Kate Jackson and Cheryl Ladd). The TV station which airs Charlie’s Angels here has royally screwed up the order of episodes they’re airing. I had started watching repeats of the show from the beginning of Season 2 (so I’d missed Season 1 with Farrah Fawcett’s Jill), but it seemed the station was skipping an episode here and there. I’m partway into Season 4 now and recently discovered that the station was airing not only episodes during the day, but ones at ridiculous hours late at night/early morning. I recorded these and was surprised to see Farrah Fawcett/Jill. So I continued recording and watching episodes during the day (Season 4) and episodes late at night/early morning (Season 1). The Season 1 episodes then switched to what I can only imagine are Season 2/Season 3 episodes (since Kris and Sabrina are both in them). I think these must be the episodes that the station deemed ‘too mature/not appropriate’ for daytime television and so they’ve plucked out these selected few and decided to air them at night. Even weirder is the fact that I recorded one last night and suddenly Tanya Roberts’ Julie Rogers was there – and boy, they really did a number on her with the makeup, I thought. Also, as awkward as Shelley Hack/Tiffany may have been, I already think she worked better with the others than Tanya Roberts/Julie. I guess that, to be fair, I should wait a few more episodes before I judge, but she just stands out SO much from the other two (and my goodness, WHAT did they do to Jaclyn Smith’s/Kelly’s hair?!) - and not really in a ‘good’ way. So, yes, I’ve been watching episodes of the show at different points throughout the series (Season 1, Seasons 2 and 3, and Season 4, plus one episode of Season 5 so far). Luckily, the episodes all basically seem like ‘standalone’ stories, so it doesn’t really matter too much that they’re jumping between seasons (other than the fact that there’s different Angels from one episode to the next).

Farrah Fawcett inspired at least half of the girls' hairstyles in school, then she was the poster Goddess. But I always liked Jaclyn Smith best.

Well, it seems I've now watched at least most of Charlie's Angels Seasons 1-4 thanks to the repeats on TV. I most recently got to see the Season 1 episodes I'd missed during my first viewing of the show (which I'd started with Season 2 of). So I got to see Farrah Fawcett's episodes (she *did* have some amazing hair) and Jill interacting with Sabrina & Kelly. The repeats have now come back around to Season 2 and I'm recognising the episodes I saw previously. Other than a few episodes of Season 5, I haven't watched the last season (they took the repeats off after Season 4 ended - I didn't even realise it was the Season 4 final at the time - and replaced them with another show I didn't care about. I kept an eye out for their return, though, and thankfully managed to catch Season 1). For some odd reason they occasionally put an episode on late at night/early morning (like they did with the few Season 5 episodes I mentioned in my previous post here).
Anyway, I'm glad I've gotten to see most of the episodes. The show may have been a bit 'iffy' at times, but I still enjoyed it. Plus, getting to watch the three Angels (be it the Season 1 trio, the Seasons 2-3 trio or the Season 4 trio) every episode was certainly no chore. Kelly still remains my favourite, but I grew to appreciate the others more as the show went on. There were things I liked about each one of them. Try as they might, I don't think any remakes are going to catch the 'spirit' this show seemed to have which made it special. I'm just so happy that even though I missed out on this fun show during its original run, I got to catch it via repeats on TV, as I found it pretty enjoyable.

Cheryl was once married to Alan Ladd's son. Jacqueline once had a fashion line with K-Mart. Some of her clothing items were pretty cool. Kate also starred on "The Rookies", she headlined hair then. I am a child of the 70's as well.

Fun show back in the day. I recently watched a rerun, Marathon Angels, and one of the girls who gets kidnapped was bra-less in a mesh half shirt .. I do miss some things about the 70's.

I liked Kate Jackson because she was the brains of the outfit and wasn't trying to use sex appeal.
That being said, d'uh, of course Smith was the best.
Farrah had the hair that inspired a generation. When she had cancer and shaved her head, the world cried out of vanity with the loss of those locks.
