is he the fall guy for this whole debacle or do you think he deserved to go?
I don't buy the argument he didn't surround them with talent.
didn't they have AD, Cousins, Jrue and Rondo at one point?

People in New Orleans were not completely happy with Dell Demps. And being that "the buck stops here", the Pelicans plateaued as a bottom level playoff team. And, they failed to surround Anthony Davis with talent that would help them improve. I believe Davis would be happy to stay on the Pelicans if they were a champion, or a bonified contender.

You don't call Cousins, Jrue and Rondo 'talent'?
What do you want Lebron, Durant and Harden?

They weren't good enough to win in the second level of the playoffs. And the Pelicans have always suffered from no depth. Ultimately Demps was responsible for the Pelicans not having the right talent to ever even get a top four seed.

Not to go on a rant here - I just don't 'get it'.
AD to me is soft - gets injured and he's not an Alpha.
To me - yes he's a star. Superstar? Don't know about that and fail to see how some regard him Top 5 in the NBA. Old boss once told me 'the best ability is available'. This dude gets injured and for being a 'Superstar' has lead this team nowhere.
What about if you are 'that guy' you take that roster above to the promise land (or close) - i.e. put them on your back and lead them to the Finals if you are 'that guy'.
I almost wish he was dealt to the Lakers for pretty much their entire roster to see it blow up in their faces.

I never used this word called "alpha" before but let me ask you this: Do you think AD is or can ever be α?

But he is a great player who is breaking and setting records.

They ended up sweeping Portland and lost in the second round to an obviously superior team. I am not sure what else they were expecting last season.

As far as being the best player who single handedly raised the level of the Pelicans, he is an alpha. As far as being a ra ra ra, in your face, cheerleader, I don't think that is his personality.

To me - I don't see it in his personality.
If he wanted to be an 'Alpha' he'd stay in New Orleans and take them to the next level - instead he was trying to join LeBron.
To each their own - I mean - I'm not judging here - guy wanted to go to L.A. and play with LeBron - but to me - that is the furthest thing from an 'Alpha'.
He doesn't appear to have any 'Dog' in him.

Everything else equal given an option to trade AD for Embiid, what would be your decision?

Exactly......He has abundant talent but not the attitude you see in winners or at least people who want to be winners. I will take Embiid above him any day. So much more personality too.

I think Pels should have taken Kuzma, Ingram and some other offerings by Lakers. Kuzma is an immense talent.

The Lakers offered them the moon and they turned it down out of spite. Not a good look.

Could it be that now the owners realised that they made a massive mistake by not accepting Laker's offer and fired him now?
