Mahershala Ali - Moonlight (what did he do?) Benicio Del Toro - Traffic (what did he do?) Timothy Hutton - Ordinary People (worst category fraud ever) Michael Caine (can't do accent, beat more deserving) Tommy Lee Jones - The Fugitive (beat several more deserving) Alan Arkin - Little Miss Sunshine (not even the BSA of the movie) Jack Nicholson - Terms of Endearment (just Jack being Jack) Jack Palance - City Slickers (I support comedies getting attention, but this? Ehhh) Mahershala Ali - Green Book (category fraud) Joel Grey (beat the entire cast of the Godfather)

He is one of my favorite Oscar wins, even though I consider Fiennes and DiCaprio more deserving.

You'll also have to pretend he doesn't make my top 10 of that year in your other thread. I know he does, but still. I am just giving you a hard time.

I am not taking category fraud or the competition into account.

Outright bad performances generally don't win Oscars. Unless they're Patrica Arquette.

They are just my least favorite of all the winning performances I have seen.

I love Ali and Rylance's wins, which were refreshingly subtle and truly supporting performances in an age when the Oscar tends to go to larger and showier roles. I've never managed to make it through Ryan's Daughter with my eyes open, but from what I have seen John Mills would be at or near the top of the list. My least favourites: - Edmond O'Brien, The Barefoot Contessa
- Don Ameche, Cocoon
- Harold Russell, The Best Years of Our Lives **one of the best films ever to receive this award. But not a very good performance.
- Jim Broadbent, Iris
- Dean Jagger, 12 O'Clock High
- Hugh Griffith, Ben-Hur
- George Chakiris, West Side Story
- James Coburn, Affliction
- Alan Arkin, Little Miss Sunshine **an actor I love winning for a throwaway performance in a terrible movie.
- George Burns, The Sunshine Boys
