Yeah, you wouldn't like this place. Just over a mile from the Ethiad is TAKK coffee house/brunch kitchen situated along Oxford Road (one of three branches in the citeh) It's known as a place that "Manchester's techies love as their third space." What the hell 'third space' means is anyone's guess but not mine because I cant be bothered.
Feeling breakfast-y before the match, Tottenham fans? Try the TAKK muesli, a House Muesli mix with raspberry and blackberry compote, sliced apple, homemade vegan yoghurt & toasted coconut. A bowl of that will set you back the price of a pint at £4.50. The more adventurous might want to try the TAKK M.A.C (don't ask) sandwich, a pretentious little number with maple smoked streaky bacon, smashed avocado (or 'avo' as they refer to it - arrgghhh!!!) chipotle ketchup on sourdough bread. It's six quid's worth of pure pretension and is not enough to satisfy a pigeon.
Oh look, they're offering Nduja & Eggs (spreadable salami is just one of those things that shouldn't exist. It's just wrong, it should just not exist, like Joey Barton or Salt 'n' Lineker flavoured crisps) For £7 you'll get some sourdough bread topped with spicy nduja sausage spread, poached eggs, avocado and house made salsa verde. It's a quite popular item here with Manchester's techies.
It's an 'artisan' establishment where the coffee comes from El Salvador and the attitude comes from up their asses. You won't find any footy folk in here so let's get the hell of it.
Nearly forgot - don't forget to pick up your in-house coffee magazine 'Standart' which proudly 'stands for the art of coffee'. Ten sovs a copy.
Yesterday we were asked on here who we thought would win - Juventus or Ajax. My answer was simple : head, Juventus; heart, Ajax. And by god the heart won through. Today I'm going for a double whammy. Head, Man City; heart, Spurs. What I wouldn't give for the heart to get one over the head again tonight.
Spurs come here one up from the first leg and it's obviously a fragile lead. You wonder how MoPo will present his side for this one. Without Kane it seems even more of an uphill task but can the Soccer Chickens pull off what would surely be the finest result of their season so far? You would like to think so, if only to wipe the smug and arrogant smirk from Gladioli's mug. I'm no Spurs fan but neither am I a Watford fan but that didn't stop me rooting for the Hornets on Monday night v Arsenal. Sometimes you've just got to align yourself with an 'outsider', a team you have absolutely nothing to do with and one whose more thuggish fans would quite joyfully kick your head properly in were they to spot you in your own team's colours. But screw that, what is it they say on the hashtag thing? COISE!
