Batman? I'm pretty sure most people have never of that. General audiences want A listers like Captain Marvel.

Well technically The Dark Knight Rises is still more impressive because it didn't without the 3D prices.

It's just inching closer to Aquaman at this rate. Not sure if it'll make it.

The Dark Knight Rises is my least favorite of the Nolan trilogy, mostly because of the direction they took the story. Their choice, I'm not the film maker.
But it's way better than Captain Marvel. I've no concept of what the Nolan movies made in theaters, but the revelation of Captain Marvel making more money doesn't make a dent in my opinion. I enjoyed Captain Marvel. The Dark Knight Rises is way better, even if it never sells another DVD. It's my least favorite of its own trilogy, but still better than a lot of movies.

I always felt like the TDK trilogy was overrated, but it's still way better than CM.

Artificial boosts from the female and soyboy audiences Assume soyboy is slang for a boy who misses his edamame.

Artificial boosts from the female and soyboy audiences Excuse me. Artificial boost from female audiences? I paid my hard earned female dollars to see Superman in the theater in 1978. I paid my hard earned female dollars to see Batman & Batman Returns in the theater. I paid my hard earned female dollars to see Dark Man in theater. I paid my hard earned female dollars to see The Crow in theater. Spiderman 1, 2, 3. XMen 1, 2, 3. Wolverine. But now you want to separate my female dollars away from your male dollars?

To be fair, you're a self-admitted comicbook fan, so I'm not surprised that you watch these comicbook movies. I have a few female friends who're completely not interested in comicbook movies but still went to watch Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel for the simple fact that they were the first major superheroine movies. They weren't interested in the characters or the movies per se, they were interested because it promoted girl power.

Captain marvels billion dollar gross is mainly down to it being marketed to female audience and the supplementary sjws, male feminists, soy boys etc Why do you think Captaim Marvel outgrossed thor Ragnarok and Spiderman homecoming. Same way black panther used the untapped black audience market.

Never saw Beaches or Thelma & Louise I kinda gathered that. But that's why I don't consider you a good example of the average female viewer. I don't mean that as an insult, but you're obviously a lot more into comics than the average girl/woman.

As a spouse I didn't really see movies my husband didnt want to see so I fell into the action flick mode which is cool. They have a lot of banter/humor. Which I suspect lots of gals fall into. Or just stop going to films. Then when I had a kid it was the Disney stuff my husband made plain he wasnt doing so I took the kid myself a lot. Lots of those run to fantasy, though, so it's cool.

Having done so, they might choose to see Far From Home in theater. Thor has always been a C-level hero. He has struggled to sell comics. Like Dr Strange, he has a core audience, but he's not X-Men level.

Batman still has the edge in one category: Craziest fans. The craziest thing a Captain Marvel fan did was see the movie 116 times. The craziest thing a Batman fan did was dye his hair like the Joker and shoot a bunch of people in the theater for TDKR.
Fun fact: Cinemark sued the victims for legal costs after winning the lawsuit brought against the company for not preventing the shooting. The remaining four victims eventually agreed not to appeal the initial ruling so Cinemark dropped the countersuit.

I donโt think anybody will ever be more popular than Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man. They can recast and reboot them to death. Whereas with characters like Wolverine and Tony Stark, I think people are going to have a really hard time with any other actor taking on those roles. Jackman and RDJ basically own them.
