Almost a complete snoozefest...
Felt sorry for Sainz. Not only did he have to watch his teammate pile on more points from the garage, but also having to watch Ferrari finish as they qualified.
Hope Renault manage their momentum.
Onwards to Italy, where it looks like it'll be hard to contain my schadenfreude.

The first mediocre racing weekend of the year. F1 was interesting but it wasn't a good race. The same goes for Indy and World Superbikes. The best races i watched were the little Supersport 300's in WBSK.

Hamilton takes 94th Pole with fastest ever qualifying lap in history! Bottas 2 Sainz 3 (Good lad, lets hope he can fight and stay in the points) No Ferrari in top 10 (hee hee hee) It all has a very familiar feeling about it doesn't it, but you got to hand it to Mercs, they are blisteringly hot. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/54041384

Maybe we can get a nice battle for 3rd. Its going to be hard for Verstappen this time. RBR are never good here in the hybrid era, but this years car is very unbalanced here.

What stupid commentary. They kept all the focus of Sainz and Mclaren as if Sainz should have been the winner. They could have focused more of amazing Gasly.
Awesome Gasly I wanted you to win. You were great in last race too.

Gasly, well done!!! Why couldnt he drive with this much confidence at RBR?
Anyway, a weird race with a stupid mistake by Mercedes and a big crash for Leclerc. That safetycar and later the red flag really mixed it all up. From that moment on Gasly drove excellent and kept his cool. And Honda won a race at a power track, how cool is that.

I had no idea what happened to Bottas. What exactly was the issue with the car? A bit disappointed with Perez. Yes, even I don't understand what was Gasly doing when at Red Bull? He has been spectacular right from the time he returned to Toro Rosso. But a very entertaining race. Would have loved to see Lando instead of Ferrari boy Sainz. But that's just me.

But Sainz drove a good race and really deserved that podium.
Also, this was the last race with the Williams family, its weird that they are no longer part of F1.

Congrats to Gasly.
It was nice to see Sainz make up for his miserable last weekend.
Albon showed a major weakness, he drives like Vettel, instead of looking forward, he looks backwards with his side mirrors, so he locked up when Hamilton was trying to overtake.
Bottas also revealed his weakness. He can't race without engine modes.
Ferrari reaffirmed what we all know...

I was mentally prepared for a snoozefest but got one hell of a race. I thoroughly enjoyed that and i'm so pleased for Gasly, he seems like a really nice kid and from his passed performances on his return to his old team deserves a really good result. It's also good to see McLaren doing so well.
Lewis did a cracking job of clawing his way back through the field but that was an embarrassing mistake from Mercedes. Apparently the only team member to spot the signs saying the pit lane was closed was someone back at the factory in Brackley!
That must have been one of the worst performances by Ferrari at Monza in the history of F1! Charles was lucky to come out of his crash unscathed. It was eerily reminiscent of Rindt's crash at the same corner 50 years ago.
Hats off to Latifi for nearly getting a point and fair play to both drivers for their nice radio messages to the Williams family on the cool down lap.

You were great in last race too. Hapoens in Superbikes all the time. They'll focus on a battle for 8th and 9th and then go to the front of the race where we have a new leader and the lead commentator will say "How did that happen? We'll get you a replay..." yes. Because I watch live sport to see a replay of the lead changing.

Because I watch live sport to see a replay of the lead changing. In this case because Sainz and Gasly were no.2 and ,no.1 and so they did cover Gasly but the way they talked was as if the normal order was for Sainz to be the winner. They would show McLaren crew but not show AlphaTauri crew until Gasly won it. All though the last 23 laps or so the praise was not given to Gasly irrespective of the fact that Gasly had started much lower down the order. Even though Gasly was lucky to take advantage of the race disruption his car was not as competent as Sainz. So commentators should not have made it as if Sainz was supposed to be the winner. Gasly held on to his position because he was so good. He should have been praised even during the race and not just after winning it.

I agree but if you were Gasly would you take it the opportunity again? The Red Bull car although undoubtedly fast looks to be a tricky beast to tame. I don't know what i would do if i was in his shoes and was asked to step back up in to the Red Bull. He seems to have formed a great relationship with the Alpha Tauri team and understands the car so it's possible he would get better results if he stayed put which may lead to interest from other teams and better opportunities. Then again it may not and he may be out of F1 when Red Bull promotes a junior driver in to his seat in the not too distant future.

Funny coming from Hamilton, he was shitting on Gasly last season when he drove for RBR.
Anyway, Gasly won, its great, but, lets be real, if it wasnt for the safetycar/red flag and HAM 10 sec stop and go penalty, he wouldnt be in the position to go for the win. So lets not treat him like he is the second coming of Prost. Also, the RBR car is almost undrivable, we saw Gasly fail in a much better car. He seemed to cave under the pressure and he couldnt even overtake much slower cars. All that changed when he was put back at TR. Not everyone has it in him to drive for a top team. But hey, maybe his second stint at TR/AT is what he needed to get ready for RBR and he is ready.
Still, Albon needs to go, but I dont know if Gasly is the solution.

I think i read that Jenson Button likened what Max is doing in the Red Bull to Senna. If that is the case and Red Bull decide to part ways with Alex then who should they put in the car? Where are they going to get another Max? Rumour is they know this and will stick with Alex for now.
