I can answer that but first I need to know: have you or have you not watched AoS? I saw the first episode and it was garbage. Since then I’ve seen clips and it looks just as bad. Majority of superhero shows start strong then slowly dwindle away to crap. AoS is the opposite: started weak but developed into arguably the best superhero series we've ever had. Anyway to answer your question: after the events of CATWS when Hydra revealed itself to have infiltrated SHIELD, AoS showed these two groups going at it. Because Fury faked his death, Coulson was the highest ranking member left after their internal war and he became director of SHIELD. But they didn't know who to trust anymore and the public had lost faith in SHIELD, so his team became a shadow organization. They operated in secret and didn't announce that they were SHIELD. As far as the world was concerned, they didn't exist. That's why they're never mentioned anywhere because other than a select few, nobody knows they exist.

Except you wouldn't know that would you because you never watched it. I watched the pilot episode and it was crappy. Yes, which means you can't tell whether the series itself is crappy because you haven't watched it. That's like saying your 4-course meal is crappy just because you didn't like the first sip you had of their soda.

I watched the pilot episode and it was crappy. Yes, which means you can't tell whether the series itself is crappy because you haven't watched it. I watched the pilot episode and it was crappy. TV is a different medium than movies. A movie can start slowly but viewers will usually still stay to the end (unless it's really crappy) because they've already paid their money and it's only about 2 hours. A TV show can't start slowly because viewers will stop watching if it starts off crappy. So a TV show needs to start off strong. And even when deciding whether or not to pick up a TV show, network executives don't watch an entire season. They just watch the pilot episode and make their decision based on the pilot episode. So the pilot episode is what TV shows are judged by. And I watched the pilot episode of AoS and it was crappy.

I watched about 4 seasons of AoS and did think it was pretty awful.
Compared to something like Daredevil, it's not even worth anyone's time. I much preferred Iron Fist even.

You mean like how Game Of Thrones started slowly yet the writing, acting, dialog and scope of the series drew the fans in more and more week to week as the story unfolded given as how most of the seasons are based on a single book and therefor not every episode is in and of itself a great episode but rather a great chapter in a single story.
AOS started slow because they were handcuffed by the CA:TWS reveal, they basically treaded water for the first 2/3's of the season with mission of the week episodes but once TWS hit the show became more connected, episodes flowed into each other telling a more natural story.
Also saying that a series is crap because the pilot didn't hook you is moronic, when has any long running show ever peaked with the pilot, some of the best and most beloved shows start of wobbly and grow into themselves as time progresses.
Seriously stop being such a fucking retard.

No one ever said a TV show has to peak with the pilot episode. But the pilot episode has to be at least good enough to get people to stay and watch more. AoS had a crappy pilot episode that wasn't good enough to keep viewers interested.
