They didnt give Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, etc. their own movies, but they're going to give Shang Chi his own movie? A character that is far less popular and far less interesting? Even I smell virtue signaling, and I'm a liberal social justice warrior!
Ultimately he fights Kung Fu. That's it! He's not even really a super hero! Nor do any of his stories really dove tail into any of the great Marvel stories or other heroes stories. They're literally going to have to make something up from whole clothe to make this work.
I liked this movie better when it was any of the Bruce Lee movies you can get on DVD!
Meanwhile there's tons of other cool characters they could make movies of: Any of the above mentioned would have made for good movies, then there's Namor, Moon Knight, She Hulk, Nova, The New Warriors, Alpha Flight, and even Agents of Atlas which is a team led by an Asian man, a secret agent type.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against Shang Chi. His 70's comic book series was pretty cool. But he's the type of character who should be a TV show, not a major motion picture.

I don't think popularity has much to do with it. They made a Guardians of the Galaxy movie years before Doctor Strange and Black Panther after all.
They're making an Eternals movie and I've never heard of them.
I know very little about Shang Chi but I'm sure they'll make something out of it.

It's almost seems like they are just testing themselves now. Lets see if we can take our most Obscure characters and make the hits.

The Defenders got some decent treatment. Daredevil was the only one I knew until the other shows came along. They had some time in the sun, and I drink Kung Fu movies for breakfast so if they have another one in the vault then I'm game.
I'll take a She-Hulk movie too when they get the chance.

Probably because of the shows.

I feel like they will eventually give them movies. At least Daredevil. I think if this had been before the Fox merger, Hulu, and Disney+ situation then they might have given Shang Chi a show instead. But I could be wrong.
Honestly I hope that since Marvel has completed their Infinity Saga that they will start making smaller movies with a different vibe. A place where stuff like DD, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, and Iron Fist can thrive.
Personally I’d love for them to make a Heroes for Hire continuation series on Hulu with Cage, Jones, Danny Rand, and Colleen Wing. Leave Daredevil and the Punisher out so they can have their own movies down the line.

Nothing is surprising about this move, and there is absolutely no reason for outrage or indignation.
He's a character with zero baggage and even less fandom ownership surrounding his history. This movie is Marvel taking an opportunity to sidestep petty fandom bickering and deliver on what will likely be a first-class reinvention.

This is a bit of a silly complaint Shang Chi was one of the original movies Disney intended to make when the MCU began which they borrowed like $500m to finance, it was only when Iron Man became a massive hit and Disney ended up buying the company those plans got derailed but this films been in the pipeline in some shape or form with Marvel Studios for over a decade now.
Also not sure how pissy anyone can get over Daredevil and co getting shows and not movies when back then it was because these were envisioned as harder rated lower budget films that Disney and Marvel didn't want to make, but Netflix lapped them up, and if you are moaning about Shang Chi getting a movie before Daredevil you know you'd be moaning even harder that Shang Chi was getting a show before Daredevil or the others, and if the shows were still on going you probably wouldn't be moaning at all.
Disney & Marvel are in a situation now where they can take the bigger chances on the lesser known movies, Shang Chi is just the GOTG for Phase 4, and we don't know what story Disney have up their sleaves right now Shang Chi maybe a pivotal character in the story, and could also be that if they could Daredevil or any of the other Defenders would have been a preferred choice but the Netflix issue is legally keeping them from moving on it, hell at this point the Defenders maybe properties strictly for Marvel TV to use and not Marvel Studios for all we know.

You posted this same thing like over a wek ago I think and I gave you a admiteddly limited rundown of the character, and I also posted the link to his wiki for you to do some research and expand you knowledge, glad to know you instead stayed ignorant.
In future to prevent being called a liar instead of making such limited and moronic post actually specify like saying "seriously who is Shang Chi I never heard of him before this talk of a movie started up" because that will be a truthful statement no matter how many times I or anyone else tell you about him, you dumb cunt.

I’m very interested in seeing a contemporary, extremely high budget Kung fu movie. I can’t even fathom what that would be like... The Matrix is the only movie that comes even close, but that strays greatly from more traditional, Eastern-inspired action scenes.
But if Netflix hadn’t made the tv shows, Daredevil and the Hand at the very least would have show up on the big screen by now. It’s because they went straight to tv that the movies aren’t happening.

So Shang-Chi is just a copy of Kato? Who in the blue hell is Kato? Another Asian character who knows martial arts, which obviously means they are one in the same to DC-Fan that despicable racist.

Soon, you will be very, very familiar with the deadly hands of Shang-Chi - Master of Kung-Fu. So Shang-Chi is just a copy of Kato? Kato is a sidekick. Shang-Chi is his own hero. Also, he can create duplicates of himself and dodge bullets. He has a mastery over chi. So wondering if they'll go Naruto with him.

Ah... I see. DC-Fan, stereotyping Asian people because of their tradition in the martial arts is despicable and racist.
