Not a gamer at all - but did enjoy playing sports games as a kid. I'm going to have to go...... Tecmo Bowl! Go!

I did play a lot of Madden and the NHL series but I refuse to choose any of EA’s soulless entries which simply get a new cover and a very brief polish before being churned out every year with updated rosters.

Played the hell out of this in the mid 90's on the Genesis. Course I was terrible at passing so I would set the game on easy and just have the QB run the ball up and down the field and blow out the computer 55-0 Funniest thing was running the ball up to the opponents goal line, stopping and running the other way back to my goal line, stopping, waiting for the defenders to catch up and repeating this for 4 or 5 minutes, just killing clock time.
I remember renting California Games for the bike and skateboard challenge. It wasn't as bad as that Winter Games that the AVGN covered on the NES a few years ago.

NHLPA Hockey '93 > NHL '94 (I had the SNES version, but I think the Genesis version was better?)
Took me a long time to give a NBA 2K series a chance, but I'd put it up there with MLB the Show as the best sports series video games today.

I thought I heard the Madden games had made a bit of a comeback? How long do their licencing agreements have left? That's what's killed sports games, to an extent.

My faves to play were NFL 2K5 and MVP Baseball from the same year. Also All Star Baseball on the N64 was a lot of fun. In the 99 game You could make one inning games and the White Sox first 4 were Ray Durham, Mike Cameron, Frank Thomas and Albert Belle. By the time Durham singled and Thomas and Belle homered, you had at least a 3 run buffer to send Keith Foulke out for the save.

Loved the EA NBA and NHL games for SNES and Genesis back in the 90s. FIFA International Soccer 94 for Genesis as well. RBI Baseball and Baseball Stars for NES were highly addictive. Also enjoyed playing College Football's National Championship II and Wimbledon for Genesis.
Still have those systems hooked up in the den, and every once in a great while I have time to play them.

Infinitely re-playable. Windows 10 is the only reason I had to stop.

Windows 10 killed it for me too. Most memorable managers career for me was starting with the White Sox, winning 3 World Series in 6 years and then going to the Cubs for 10 years winning another 3 before getting canned (Cubs were expecting another WS while I was trying to rebuild after having Prior, Zambrano and Wood all retire at about the same time). I ended up at the Mets and rebuilt them into a WS winning team over 6 years amd then went to a surprisingly strong Toronto team and won 6 consecutive AL pennants, before returning to the White Sox and alternating between them and the Cubs for the remaining 90 or so years in the mode.
