I would say that the 80.s was the last completely good decade for music. Since every year still had good music being released. The 90.s only had about half of that. And forget about anything after that.

And forget about anything after that. I agree about the '80s being a better time for music than the '90s. But I disagree that all 21st Century music is forgettable. Sure, the radio music of this century is forgettable. But complaining about the lack of good music on the radio is like saying, "I don't see anything interesting outside my window, therefore nothing interesting is happening anywhere in the world." I've bought 190 albums released in this century. That's twice the number of '80s CDs I own.

In the mid to late sixties.s artists you had some of the best albums and songs ever made. Quality rock albums and songs definitely. And in the 70.s we had just as many good artists as the 60.s but their good music dies out at the end of the80.s. If not sooner. Like the Police and the Talking Heads for examples. The best bands of the 80.s released some great music. But their best is from the 80.s.

Just so you know where I am coming from, I see that some old bands "disappear" for a while and then have outstanding comeback albums. And some old bands inspire young bands who pick up the torch and carry it forward. I'll bet that someone on this board could post YouTube links to new music that sounds similar to The Police or The Talking Heads. You listen to one new album you like, and then YouTube's algorithm will suggest ten similar albums off to the right. You listen to one of those, you'll get ten more suggestions. Before long you'll have more new music than you know what to do with.

Because whatever argument I thought I was making ...overall sucked. Whatever point I thought I had ...I guess you could say it sucked. Or I didn.t explain it right.

Yes. I just heard this band today. At first I thought it was Greta Van Fleet. But it's a newer band named Dirty Honey. "We try to be like the imaginary baby of all the big bands you can think of -- AC/DC, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, the Black Crowes...."

Whatever point I thought I had ...I guess you could say it sucked. Or I didn.t explain it right. Don't beat yourself up. Again, I urge you to use the resource that this board provides. You could try starting a thread like, e.g., "Good new bands that sound like The Police?", and ask for recommendations. There is a wide array of band expertise right here.
