And everything is such an easy fix. Have the Wonder Woman and Aquaman movies out in 2014 and 2015, getting rid of the need to force intros for two of the heroes into BvS. No redo of the Waynes being killed again. Replace that with scenes Bruce going over the carnage wrought by the God-level stuff going on in MoS, WW, and Aquaman. That way he has a better excuse for being cynical of these Metahman by noticing a pattern emerging in incidents where they've involved and we're spared lame Cheneyisms. No Lex Luthor manipulating the scenario. No "vs.". Call it Batman and Superman, and while they got off on the wrong foot, they don't fight, and eventually come to an understanding, AND NOT BECAUSE OF MARTHA! Bats and Supes come together, overcome their issues with each other, and beat the bad guy together, but uncover that there's something even more sinister at work in the process, ending the film with Superman turning Batman, and saying, "We need help." Oh, NO DOOMSDAY. NO PREMATURE DEATH OF SUPERMAN. But no, they decided to cram in: The Death of Superman The Dark Knight Returns MoS II Batman I The Justice League And a tale of two Marthas At least someone at DC had to have seen this disaster coming on and say "Guys... you do realize we're going to fuck this shit up, right? Right?!!"

Yeah, that's why train wrecks like Superman Returns happen and Superman Lives! almost happen. Yep. The sheer amount of not understanding the characters combined with the filmmakers' completed apathy towards them is both astonishing and insulting. Nolan to a produce a Superman movie? Just because he did Batman good? Last time I checked, they tried that with Tim Burton, too, and it didn't work out then, either. Snyder the nihilist to direct? Are you kidding? Not firing him after MoS turned out so bad? What? Not firing him against after BvS turned out ever worse? What?

I would say it has to earn at least $1.2B to be considered a success, and it has to achieve that in 4 weeks before STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI arrives. If it doesn't hit the 1.2-1.4 range then it didn't come close to maxing out. If it doesn't at least hit a billion then it's underwhelming. Anything below 900 is just sad, and if it's worse than that it's a major disaster.

Yeah, MoS stands as the most divisive Superman movie of all times and WB says "let's give this guy the keys to the kingdom!" How fucking stupid do you have to be?

The one where Superman stalks Lois and the last 30 mins feels like a Peter Jackson 5 hr snooze fest? Superman Returns is actually in my Top 5 worst CBM. Only behind SHIT4STIC, Catowan, Batman & Robin, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Let's just agree that every live action Superman movie after Superman II has been complete bullshit.

The 90s cartoon was made by people who actually understood the character and knew how to make him relevant in the 90s. Too bad The Winter Solder only came out AFTER Man of Steel. WB might have taken notes. The key isn't to make Superman himself a dark and gritty character, but to make his ethics and morals shine in a dingy, gray reality just like all three of the Cap America films did for their title character.

It's a sad day for DC when Captain America gets recognized and the man of tomorrow seems like it should have remained in the past. It shows that Snyder is one depressive fuck when he saw CW's The Flash and reportedly HATED the humor in it.

Why does WB keep hiring people that either don't know or don't like Comic Books? Because his wife works for the studio and she was able to assure they couldn't fire him before he'd made a JL movie as contracted.
