I'm continuing my re-watch of the original series. I most recently completed the Season Four two-parter "The Ninety Second War".

I am really behind--I need to finish season 1. On some series I have been jumping ahead--like Mannix. I go from season 1 to 4 to 6 but I haven't done that with Hawaii Five-O. I will probably finish the season in chronological order.

Actually there was some funny business in that episode--for one thing, you see McGarret playing a guitar and then Danny walks in and says "Steve, I brought you a sandwich." And at one point they pause, and take a bite out of their sandwiches at the same time.
Also, Dano and Kono kill a guy by shooting at his head through a door. They were aiming high and yet he got it in the chest. He was shot in the head for sure. The Five-O page mentioned that there was a homosexual undercurrent to the episode and they toned it down. It did seem pretty obvious to me what they were getting at.
Stewart Moss could be Bradford Dillman's younger brother.

HAWAII FIVE-O "Once Upon A Time" a two-parter that is emotionally powerful. The story concerns Steve McGarrett's sister in Los Angeles being swindled by a quack doctor who promises to cure her 6-month-old child who has terminal cancer. The sister's husband summoned her brother to do something to break the false hope that she has--and McGarrett agrees and goes after the doctor (Joanne Linville). She tries everything to persuade the steel-nerved cop to abandon the case and then finally tells him that she will use the death of the baby to manipulate his sister to hate him forever. Which she does. This brings us to a tearjerker scene where Danno comes into the office and McGarrett breaks down and weeps. It is handled very well (except for a strange action where Danno is holding out a cup to Steve which makes no sense since the latter has his back to him. I guess when they filmed the scene--both were not in the same room or they decided it was better for McGarrett to remain facing the window in profile.). Surprisingly emotive acting by Jack Lord.
Another memorable character is the FDA lawyer, Zipser (David Sheiner) who helps McGarrett nail the doctor with some courtroom trickery. There's also a great bit of intelligent acting where the doctor predicts McGarrett's health and he glances to his sister--obviously indicating that the sister had given various details to the fraudster so she could concoct a fake medical history. There's also a funny scene where McGarrett attracts the help of a librarian known as "Chickie-Baby." This is episode is almost like a movie.

It's a great evil character--she's so destructive without any physical violence or hysterical behavior.
I knew the card switch was coming--I guessed it as soon as he volunteered to be the test subject. And she couldn't resist using him in order to attack him further via information she got out of his sister. Which he knew was going to happen.

I am reading about "Six Kilos" on the Five-O fan page (I watched it yesterday).
McGarrett, for the second time this season, goes undercover, rehashing a smart-alecky, over-gregarious personality which we saw in "The Ways Of Love." He becomes Harry Brown (real name John Warnesh, also known as John Zecky and George Black), "expert safecracker, top nitro man, not only an expert, one of the best in the world [who] never made a hit under a half-million dollars." Brown, on his way to an assignment, was shot by Danno at the Honolulu airport when he pulled a gun on Chin Ho. (Why Danno and Chin are after Brown there is yet another unknown.) Whether McGarrett pretending to be someone else is a good idea is debatable. He is not exactly an unknown character in the islands, as we see when his cover is almost blown later in the show by some hotel security guard who recognizes him as McGarrett attempts to buy some nitrogylcerin from a sleazy guy!
*Yeah I did wonder how how could go undercover when he seemed to be on tv and known to so many people.
Danno takes pictures of McGarrett and his pals at their beachfront house from a boat offshore, presumably piloted by someone from the local cops, using a camera with a high-powered lens. When he takes these pictures, the angle is ridiculous — there is no way he can get the resulting close-up photos of their faces when they are facing away from the water!
*Looks like they must have forgotten to take set photos and just used actual stills from the episode sequence--getting 35mm frames turned into photos must have been more costly than if they just took them on set.
