The British favorite. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about 'beans on toast', so I tried it.
It tasted like beans on toast.

Excellent. Yes, it does precisely what it says on the tin! I douse mine with some malt vinegar for added tang, and the toast is always well done, not burnt but very crispy. I find underdone toast gets too easily soggy with the beans on it.

I've eaten beans on toast since I was a kid, love it but it doesn't love me. "beans, beans, the musical fruit, the more you eat, the more you toot!"

Back in the 1950's, my older brother made a sandwich on white bread with beans as the ingredient. It became a family favorite.

This does actually seem like a really quick & easy meal idea .
I'm so surprised after all these years
I never thought to put
this interesting combo together .
I have eaten bread / toast with either tomato sauce
or with gravy for many years but not this
also may try this meal tomorrow perhaps .
Thanks so much yummy for this most unique yet simple
meal suggestion and for your subject post here too .

Not yet Jay perhaps this weekend .
I might use a much quicker bean recipe
from one of my vegan cookbooks
It won't be an original English Recipe of course
but I know it will be just as interesting .
Definitely can't wait to try it
and will certainly be making
this one for myself .
I know Hubby wouldn't be
interested in this meal either but that's OK more for me then .

I tried it to on the recommendation of a British internet friend, yummy I think you had to be raised with it. Like I like turnip green soup, but it really is bitter. I was raised with it. lol

It's an old favourite of my childhood. I still eat it now, but only once in a while. The toast has to be crispy for it to taste good.

Almost like a chili sandwich no, once was enough, Jay it isn't bad, but it isn't great either. Beef/meat would improve it. Spices, too. It was bland.
