When a gunfight breaks out in public, all bystanders scatter in a panic screaming.
In real life --- you can see it on security camera footage --- or in real life if you've ever had the "privilege" --- people don't panic or scream. They just run out of the way, or take cover quietly.

I have always found it pretty stupid if the criminal is trying to get away from the cops and they are in a building like a 10 storey building or a skyscraper the criminal always run up to the roof and most times get stuck on the roof.

I'm not sure if this is a cliche or not. When I was a kid, the tone arm on our record player would automatically lift itself when it reached the end of a record and return to its little stand on the side of the turntable; the turntable would then shut off. Did anyone else have this, or did all other record players allow the record to keep spinning endlessly while the needle kept playing its scratchy inner circle groove, as is usually portrayed in movies and TV shows set in the record player era?

In real life, the experts always say, "If you are trying to escape a pursuing threat, never run up." Because the up is always a dead end. There are exceptions though.

Did anyone else have this, or did all other record players allow the record to keep spinning endlessly while the needle kept playing its scratchy inner circle groove, as is usually portrayed in movies and TV shows set in the record player era? I had both. My first record player would keep spinning even after the record was over. You had to manually pick up the arm that held the needle. Later I got an automatic where not only would the needle arm go back to the resting place after the record was over. But all I had to do was push the play button, and the needle arm would go to the record, set down at the beginning, and start playing the record. But I think that is a cliche. It's supposed to show nobody's paying attention, missing, unconscious, or dead.

The police go to their forensics department for hopeful results. The tech tells them a bunch of technical jargon they, of course don't understand (and which is not important). Then the police say, "Can you explain that in English?"

In horror movies, and even in murder mysteries, somebody goes to investigate a noise, or they go into a dark house, building, or room, or the police detectives doing an investigation, enter a dark place --- AND THEY DON'T TURN THE LIGHTS ON !!!
Sometimes they search with a flashlight, or even by ambient light, when there's a light switch right there, and the electricity is still on.
Sometimes there's an extended search or chase through multiple dark rooms.
You know it's supposed to be scary because you can tell by the music.
No surprise when they get frightened or victimized by whatever is hiding in the darkness.
You know the electricity and lights work because after whatever happens, the police come to do a post incident investigation --- AND ALL THE LIGHTS ARE ON !!!
No matter what happens, it never would have happened if they had just turned the lights on to begin with.

Characters that survives things that would kill them or they would be seriously injured.
Like in any James Bond movie really, if those movies where real James Bond would have been killed several times in every movie and he would end up being seriously injured several times in every movie., and have probably every bone in his body broken several times in every movie.
Just to make it clear this does not annoy me and i have no problem with it being like that. but i would call it a cliche

When actors pretend to be falling from a great height, they scream all the way down, "AAAAAAaaaaaa" ------- boom. In real life, when people fall from great heights, they are too scared to say or scream anything. Oh yeah? I'm going to go and prove that wrong. Oh wait. The Sears Tower is closed. Maybe next time.

Just once I would love him to say, "Baking soda." LOL Of course IRL they would send it to a lab to confirm and it could be cyanide for all they know.

It can be pitch black in a forest. Someone hears something outside while camping. They get up from their tent to go outside to check. And during all that time there is enough light to see them and for them to look around without using a flashlight! In movies it never gets 100% dark. There is always enough light to see. And in places where there should be a hell of a lot more light it is dimly lit. Such as in prison scenes like Another 48 Hrs. Eddie Murphy shooting hoops in a very dim gym that should be lit up brighter than a sunny day.

In a supernatural horror:
The victims of the haunting will either just happen to come across the books or find someone by chance who can explain to them (And us) what all is going on and what horrible fate awaits them and how to get rid of it.

That reminds me of how often in TV shows and movies where the characters will "just happen" to see on TV --- at just the right time --- the news story pertaining to them. Whether they're at home or out. They weren't even watching TV or the news. But they just happen to be around a TV right when their story comes on.

Yeah and in today's world of virtual media they will find out that thing in other ways. The internet is limited by what people upload onto there. But not in the movies. The boy wants to find out about that girl who moved in next door? Well, he will find videos of her at parties her friends just happened to upload onto YouTube or where she is a baton twirler in a parade or she is watching her favorite singer at a concert or rehearsal video of her doing ballet etc. And then if that same boy uploads videos of them out on a date later on it will get like 5 million views in two days and EVERYONE at school will have seen it and be talking about it.

It takes about four seconds for a grenade to explode. As far as i know a grenade would not be able to blow up a whole house. It would probably only damage the room it exploded in. But i could be wrong If you are 3 meters from a grenade that explodes i am pretty sure it would kill both the hero and villain. The last grenade is always the most explosive:

Wait a sec and hold the phone. The dude is a Dartmouth grad and he doesn't know how to hold and fire a rifle properly? Damn college kids!

If a good guy and bad guy get into a real violent, nasty and bloody fight to the death where, of course, the good guy wins everytime, he will end up with cuts, scratches, maybe a real serious puncture wound or two and a non life threatening gunshot. An ambulance is there as well as a love interest and/or a friend. Does he get any first aid or medical help of any kind? Is he rushed to the hospital? Oh hell no. He is standing there talking to his love or his friend and no medics are helping him get the aid he so badly needs since, surprise! no blood is gushing out like a geyser like it would in real life.
Explosions. If it's a bad guy he will be in the middle of it and get killed. If it's a good guy he will be on the edge of it, walking away with his back turned because he is just too cool to get phased by it. Or He will get tossed away with no harm at all by the shockwave. Try it in real life and they would either be seriously injured or even dead.

Cops talk about the details of an important murder case --- while walking down a crowded sidewalk, or in a crowded restaurant --- and nobody around them pays attention.
Kids (and sometimes adults) have an important and/or provocative discussion in a crowded school hall --- and nobody around them pays attention.
Two or more people have a screaming argument on a busy sidewalk, and people just walk by like nothing is happening.
Somebody in a car chases somebody else in a car at night, in a city or town --- speeding and squealing --- and no vehicular traffic or people walking or standing around anywhere. They even damage their vehicles and other things around --- even shots fired --- and no police ever appear.

High schools being portrayed as being ruled by bullies and cliques.
I'm 61. I went to high school in the 70s. I didn't go to the same school all my elementary friends went to. I never had any problem with bullies or cliques.
Same with my two sisters in the 80s.
Usually the only characters are the victim, the victim's only friend, the bully, and his or her gang. All the other kids at the school (usually 100s) are portrayed as window dressing. There is nobody cool or decent in the the other 100s of kids that the victim could be friends with?
