I thought the moral lesson of the movie was about prosecutors making deals with criminals. Gerard Butler is the bad guy because he is taking the law into his own hands and killing the corrupt - something that Jamie Foxx hammers is the wrong thing to do.. Jamie Foxx resolves the situation by setting up a trap that will kill Gerard Butler... thus, taking the law into his own hands.

It's Jamie Foxx's job to stop him. I think that's one of the flaws of the movie... You spend the majority of the film actually kind of rooting for him to succeed.. then, they are forced to have him act like a real lunatic for the last 20 minutes to justify his death at Jamie Foxx's hands.

We've all got both light and dark inside us."... features two villains (Voldemort and Bellatrix) with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Also by the end of the series it's shown Harry never truly has any dark inside of him other than the piece of Voldemort's soul.
