I didn't see the movie, the trailers were crap. So I guess.. the marketing?

There is no such thing as "comic book fatigue". Only bad movie fatigue. You get a lot of bad movies of a certain type or from a certain place, people will stop seeing them. People remember Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad and might look at this as a direct sequel. They'll want no part of it. The same goes for the R rating. Even from the trailers, this looks like the girl version of Deadpool. That alone should have helped it.
I want to say it is Anti-Men, but I don't know if that was from the studio. Was watching a Midnight's Edge vid about this and it had a guy that was virtually beaten up because he made a comment about them taking the sex appeal out of the marketing. Someone came back at him saying that it's not for straight men. That it's for women and gays. So maybe Too Woke?

I will say its the r rating and the female angle with no major real support. its a pretty good film. way better than captain marvel, which was just too bad.

Weren't Lucy, Ready or Not, Atomic Blonde, the first few Underworld movies, and all the Resident Evils box office hits? They were R rated and had female leads.

Because apart from Shazam! and Wonder Woman, DC have put out nothing but pure diarrhea for the last decade. I think audiences have finally caught on.

Never been a comic book fan. Thought Suicide Squad was meh at best, and that included Quinn. And the trailers made the movie look just awful.
So not the film for me.

Because of evil men, remember its always mens fault if a movie does bad. I will say there is a group of males who do get very wounded about females or their precious childhood memories. My kid was around 4. Bought her a ball & bat & we played that weekend. Next weekend I asked if she wanted to play. "Only boys can play baseball". Learned that at her preschool. That was around 1994. Really, guys?

Twitter doesn't over-react to everything? Gamergate didn't happen? Sorry. I'm a 59 yr old gal. I've seen my share of how guys treat gals. I thought we were past that era when I was raising my kid, but still ran into it. There's always been the jokes like "take my wife, please " or about how incompetent guys are taking care of themselves. That's the normal men are from mars/women from venus stuff. But the patriarchy is real, dude.

This is a Walter Hamada production. His MO is producing low budget films that trun a decent profit. Look at his resume: "The Conjuring", "Anabelle", "Lights Out", "It", and the Nun, just to name a few. All of those had low budgets and made orders of magnitude more than they cost to produce. BoP was made for $84 million. If you think it won't make more than 5X that after 13 weeks, you're only fooling yourself.
