Despite having an extremely limited screentime in "The Last Stand" (where he was killed), Cyclops is still regarded as the "symbol" of the X-Men throughout the Fox movie franchise.
X-Men --- Cyclops is the leader of the X-Men. He is a co-lead.
X2 --- Cyclops is still the leader, and he is unwittingly "instrumental" in Jean Grey's sacrifice.
The Last Stand --- Cyclops is killed. Few minutes of screentime.
X-Men Origins --- Basically, it's an origin movie for Cyclops too. Wade Wilson/Weapon XI is also given Cyke's mutant power.
First Class --- Alex Summers/Havok is featured. Alex is part of Cyclops' history and origin.
Days of Future Past --- Alex Summers/Havok is featured. Cyclops is revealed to be alive at the very end (new 2023).
Apocalypse --- Cyclops is an X-Man.
Logan --- Cyclops is featured on the comic book which Logan checks out.
Dark Phoenix --- Cyclops is an X-Man, and also becomes the co-leader (with Beast) by the end of the movie.
The only movie which totally ignores Cyclops is "The Wolverine".

I don't think you understand what being "the symbol" means. Also, Cyclops was handled pathetically bad by Fox. Let's hope the MCU does a far better job with him, he certainly needs the boost.

You put in an end credit scene. Wait, they did that for one of the characters, huh? They had every movie that took place after X3 saying that she killed him.

We just got "The Wolverine" after that. We also got DoFP after The Wolverine. The X-Men sequences were set in 2023, a future where other X-Men had been previously killed anyway (Beast). That said, well, Cyclops was probably killed by the Phoenix.

Fox Cyclops sucks. Deal with it. Must concur. Cyclops had all the personality of the outfit he was wearing when he told Logan to stay away from his girl. How does that even work anyways? He says if I have to tell you to stay away from my girl, she wouldn't be my girl. A minute later: stay away from my girl. God.

I saw sonic the hedhog this past weekend, James Madson I think is the actor's name was rightfully cast well as Cyclops. I wish the movies did more with him. the little we got from him, he was quite a bad ass.
I am not looking forward to a kiddie version of MCU Cyclops.
I loved seeing him again at the end of the DOFP though.
Beautiful cinematography too. it really highlighted that feel and tone that wolverine was now in a different place although we know, the xmen all met their ends again in Logan which is expected in many xmen stories.
