SXSW was just cancelled one week before it was supposed to start. Mixed feelings about this. It's held about 15 miles away. I used to get a pass and go to the film festival part every year and hang out listening to music emanating from everywhere. Been just catching one film a year and then avoiding it completely as it got bigger and bigger. Going to be a huge hit financially to the city and the organizers, who do a great job, have no cancellation insurance. But, at my advanced age, I do feel relieved. Especially since I can't find hand sanitizer or even 60+ % alcohol anywhere.

Isn't 28 Days Later more apt?

Isn't 28 Days Later more apt? I just figure that more people will have Dawn of the Dead as a cultural reference point for a zombie apocalypse kind of ting than 28 Days Later 🤷♀️

Dawn of the Dead is a zombie movie
PFFFFT - some horror fan you are.
(actually I'm kiddin - I miss this old school debate on the old IMDB)

Minor details my good man. You would have got the inference whichever film I had used in my point.

The original is better... but doesn't have an opening titles montage of the 'infected' taking over the world, put to a song about Jesus coming to judge everyone. It has a shootout in a block of flats, and Wooley shouting about killing all n****r and Puerto Rican bastards.

The 2004 remake is a far better film than the cheesey 70s version.
Horrible acting with wooden characters I could care less about.
Horrible soundtrack/campy music as well just like a majority of 70s films.

Nah mate... The remake is passable, but the OG Dawn defined the whole genre.

OG Dawn of the Dead > remake Remake > Original
and Night of the Living Dead defined the genre No way ese. People only really cottoned on to Night after they loved Dawn. Dawn was a VHS sensation.

Pretty sure Night of the Living Dead was a huge hit considering where it came from, and that success was what allowed them to make Dawn of the Dead.

They forgot to copyright it 🤦 It was immediately free for everyone to copy, show in cinemas, etc.

What he made from it is irrelevant to the point.

Two confirmed cases in PA now, one of them in the county in which I live. As if I need any other excuses to never leave my basement now. See you next year, sunlight!
