Somebody has ordered Stephen King's 'Kingdom Hospital' horror TV series DVD off Amazon for me this morning. Looking forward to that arriving and giving it a swatch 👍 I've heard Lars von Trier's original Danish TV show, Riget, is better. Kingdom Hospital is based on it. I wouldn't know about that... Daughter's mum just asked me if I would like a DVD ordered to watch... I just thought a TV series would fill more hours than a fulm, and came across this... Horror, Stephen King, thought I'd give it a whirly go round innit 🍻

Children's ghosts are creepy, hospitals are creepy.

Welp, I made it into season 6 of Ray Donovan. Season 5 was almost a total fast forward, there's a lot of boring stuff, mostly anything that has to do with his wife, who was sorely miscast by Trixie from Deadwood. Season 1 was a little hard to get through. 2-4 were pretty good but they still drag here and there.

Currently watching Akira Kurosawa's The Bad Sleep Well (1960). Many people believe Kurosawa is the best director from Japan but I have always rated Kenji Mizoguchi and Masaki Kobayashi above him. That said I do recognise that Kurosawa influenced western cinema and world cinema quite a lot and most of his movies are pretty well made. The Bad Sleep Well seems to be a little slow to start but the story seems to be good and so far direction has been good too (watched 1 hour till now).

Westworld. When season 2 first premiered, I watched up to episode 3 and just stopped. Didn't really think it was as good as the first season, felt some of the dialogue was weaker, and found some really minor things annoying. So I went without watching the rest of the season. Since season 3 premiered Sunday, I decided to get caught up. Still have the same issues with the dialogue, but show's got some nice violence and the way the narrative unfolds is still pretty great. Probably going to finally start watching the Sopranos once I get caught up on Westworld. Been putting off watching that for fuckin years.

Starting a new series always feels like such a tall task to me. I'm sure it's as great as everyone says, but there's not much appeal to me to have to watch like 80 hrs of something to get caught up. I'm usually more inclined to watch a bunch of movies. But maybe now I'll finally do it.

News mainly, but then again I am a media junkie. Well, journalism junkie anyway. I have increasingly less tolerance for a representative of Party X telling me they're doing/ would have done things so much better than Party Y.
For instance in Australia Party X banned travel and travellers from China as soon as the Virus exploded in Wuhan. When they did this Party Y claimed it was a knee jerk over reaction and racist. Then a couple of weeks later Parry Y claimed they would have handled the situation better when the reality than any objective analysis would tell you is Party X's reaction was far from flawless but regardless of what Party Y would have done they would have moved later and therefore the problem would be much worse. Conclusion: Party Y needs to shut up and vote the measures through.

I've been watching some of the Ultimate Quaranteam Tournament games.
It's a 128 team PS4 FIFA 20 tournament, played out by actual football clubs all over the world.
Forest Green Rovers play our 2nd round fixture tomorrow... Fingers crossed we make it through to the 3rd round of 32 teams.
It's quite enjoyable to be honest. The game graphics and gameplay are pretty good, and the matches are fairly brief, just two six minute halfs in real time.
Only downside is some clubs have drafted in pro-esports people to play for them, instead of fielding a genuine first team club player (boo those clubs!).
Anyone got a PS4 and copy of FIFA 20 they want to post me to while away the time having a go at the game myself 🤷♀️

The Favourite (2018) - bit of nasty fun from Yorgos Lanthimos. I prefer The Lobster and Killing of a Sacred Deer, but this film is filled with great performances.
Uncut Gems (2019) - people told me this was a 2 hour panic attack. What a perfect description. Anxiety ridden and infuriating without ever being frustrating, the film starts at full tilt and rarely lets up.
Probably start watching Deadwood soon as I never watched that one.
