I gotta say, I'm not missing sports anywhere near as much as I thought I would. I miss the actual games, but all of the false drama of meaningless drivel, and ESPECIALLY the never ending blabber of announcers and ESPN type personalities?
I ain't missing that one iota.

screamingtreefrogs , masterofallgoons I have three options for tonight The Road (2009), Season of the Witch (2011), & Solomon Kane (2009) If you have seen any of them, which one would you recommend? I just need a good time pass, the movie need to be of high quality. I recently rewatched Season Of The Witch. It's very, very bad, in that special way that Nic Cage has about him. I haven't seen the other two, don't fancy either. I recommend watching something else entirely. More Kurosawa, one of his lighter ones perhaps? Given that I didn't want to see a truly depressing movie today (as three people suggested The Road is) and a truly bad movie either as you and another person opined about Season of the Witch (2011), I did go for something else entirely. But I still didn't get my selection right. I just finished Van Helsing ( Hugh Jackman) and must say I didn't really enjoy it. The action was not so good with so many of unrealistic sequences such horses jumping 20 feet and creatures flying everywhere. The picture didn't even have a single good comic scene. No disrespect for Hugh Jackman but his Van Helsing was no match to Van Helsing characters played by Peter Cushing. I think my redemption might lie in watching a Peter Cushing movie on the weekend.

The Favourite (2018) - bit of nasty fun from Yorgos Lanthimos. I prefer The Lobster and Killing of a Sacred Deer, but this film is filled with great performances. Uncut Gems (2019) - people told me this was a 2 hour panic attack. What a perfect description. Anxiety ridden and infuriating without ever being frustrating, the film starts at full tilt and rarely lets up. Probably start watching Deadwood soon as I never watched that one. I loved The Favourite, but only started watching Killing of a Sacred Deer and it got interrupted. I never saw The Lobster, and have a vague memory of watching Dogtooth before I knew anything about him. I feel like I would really like his stuff but I haven't caught up to most of it yet. Still planning on watching Under the Skin at some point. Shit, I failed at my end of the bargain as well. Maybe I’ll watch my entry this weekend. I’ll get good and toasted for it.

Last five things that I graded on IMDb:
Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) (second time I've watched it) Can We Take a Joke? (2015) Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) Cheer (2020) Behind the Candelabra (2013)
Three movies, one documentary series, one documentary. Liked Inside Llewyn Davis more with the second viewing, but I still find it middling for Coen Brothers fare.

Thought it was a fun ride - a fun summer popcorn flick so to speak and a great 'monster mash-up'.
It was like Indiana Jones meets Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein - something like that.

I'm on season 2 of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Re-watch or first time around? DS9 is probably my favourite Trek series.

I watched Sergio Leone's 'Duck, You Sucker' (aka 'A Fistful of Dynamite', aka 'Once Upon a Time ... The Revolution') the other day, for the first time. I didn't like it very much.

Anyway, to answer the actual question, I'm struggling to find things I want to watch, despite having a vast bluray and DVD backlog. I finally got around to Twin Peaks: The Return a few weeks ago, but haven't watched anything since. Did you enjoy Twin Peaks: The Return? I thought it was pretty decent.

Did you enjoy Twin Peaks: The Return? I thought it was pretty decent. Yes, I did, very much. The black and white sequences in e8 in particular made me wish I hadn't given up weed years ago! They were fucking awesome. I found the last episode a bit of a letdown, but I felt that with the original series, and changed my mind on subsequent rewatches. I think that may happen again with this one. Yeah, that bit was amazing, my favourite part too. I was scared!

Yeah, I thought Van Helsing was a huge missed opportunity too. It's just a lame and barely coherent movie with a lot of bad special effects that have aged really poorly now. It's not Hugh Jackman's fault, I think tried admirably for the type of film they were going for, but it it wasn't even a good version of that kind of thing, which seems like the wrong approach to begin with... All of which I suppose you could say about the Tom Cruise Mummy movie now too. Universal has just not been good at using their classic properties (The Invisible Man is good though.. but it's just nothing like the Claude Rains/James Whale original or the HG Wells book). The early plan was to spinoff Van Helsing from Coppola's Dracula with Anthony Hopkins as the lead. That would clearly have been a much different movie.

Ever see the movie 'Fire Walk With Me'?
Highly recommend it.
Anyway - what are your opinions on 'Return'
Do you feel Lynch further convoluted everything - or were you happy with it.
It was great to see the show back after 25 years - and most of the old cast - that being said - I was a bit unhappy as it raised so many questions - the typical Lynch Fan - will dismiss all the questions - stating 'Well that's the beauty/art of Lynch'
The more TP delved into the supernatural, alternate worlds, alternate timelines, etc - I think a more of a mess it became.

It was the greatest portrayal of the Monster since the original

I've been saving it for a while... after the Forest Green Rovers game this evening, I'm gonna start watching Stephen King's 'Kingdom Hospital'.

I started The Leftovers, finally. In retrospect, it was a poorly timed decision.

What's funny is that's the one positive thing I can say about Van Helsing. I really enjoyed Frankenstein's Monster, and his contempt for the undead. The rest of the movie was shit.
