I started The Leftovers, finally. In retrospect, it was a poorly timed decision. I loved the Leftovers. A good friend also recently started it and we chat about it daily. It has to be surreal watching that show unfold with the backdrop of current events. Do you like it? I've still got the third season to watch - - I'm looking forward to it immensely. Watching season two of The Deuce right now.

I've also started this. It deserves all of its buzz - - it had me two minutes in.

My wife and I watched Living With Yourself on Netflix this week. It's a fun little story. Short episodes, takes no time to get through.

I love Twin Peaks
Ever see the movie 'Fire Walk With Me'?
Highly recommend it.
Anyway - what are your opinions on 'Return'
Do you feel Lynch further convoluted everything - or were you happy with it.
It was great to see the show back after 25 years - and most of the old cast - that being said - I was a bit unhappy as it raised so many questions - the typical Lynch Fan - will dismiss all the questions - stating 'Well that's the beauty/art of Lynch'
The more TP delved into the supernatural, alternate worlds, alternate timelines, etc - I think a more of a mess it became.
I'm not actually a huge Lynch fan aside from Twin Peaks, and weirdly (given my profound disinterest in sci-fi), Dune. I've tried several times, but I really don't like Fire Walk With Me, not because it does or doesn't add anything to the series, but just because it's not very good (IMO). Some rather shitty acting from not-actors such as Messrs Bowie and Isaak, plus trying too hard to make a prequel to something you already know the outcome of, make it an interesting-ish failure, but a failure nonetheless. So, I'm not a typical Lynch fan, should there be such a thing. I thought Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive were all remarkably unentertaining, in various ways. But the Lynch I like, I like a lot, and I don't overthink it. I don't suppose I fully understand everything in The Return, and I don't really expect to - but I think I'll understand more in future viewings, and the ending may make more sense. But if it doesn't, I don't mind! As for your other question - I only felt let down by the last episode of the original series, and I changed my mind after seeing it again twice when I bought the DVD release about 15 (guess) years ago, and the bluray about 4 years ago. I possibly preferred S2, after the murder was (sort of but not really) "solved", and I liked all the mystical shit. The only misstep for me was far too much of the rather dull James Hurley and his love life. James had the persona of watered down mashed potatoes - how did he get all of those hot babes?
Think chicks dug his bike and sensitive bad boy personality and brooding (or were they clueless) stares

Who would have thought that Bobby Briggs and his friend Mike would have made more out of themselves than James?
I mean - James was a security guard - what was he making like $7.75 an hour?
At least he still had his music and bike though.

Another day, another mediocre film with a gorgeous bird in it, the remake of Endless Love with Gabriella Wilde.

And Leo had his new shoes. I think it was Leo anyway.

Anyway, to answer the actual question, I'm struggling to find things I want to watch, despite having a vast bluray and DVD backlog. I finally got around to Twin Peaks: The Return a few weeks ago, but haven't watched anything since. I am in the exact spot. I have been clicking on the movies I have rated on IMDB in hope that the 12 similar movies that they give on the page would finally provide me with a suggestion what I can see. But it has been 30 minutes and I have no clue what I should watch. I liked one or two suggestions but I have not got those movies. If this continues for some more time then I might settle with a mindless low grade horror. I have a few movies of Yasujiro Ozu like Tokyo Story (1953) but I am no mood to watch such kinds of movies at the moment. screamingtreefrogsWhat about Scream 4, man?

Scream's one of the franchises where I was pretty much done after the 1st one.
Think I saw most of 2 & 3 and they didn't do anything for me - never gave 4 a shot
I've hear good things about 4 though.
Think I always wanted Sidney to be revealed as the next killer and it was never coming to fruition.....

I thought the Leo story went on slightly too long, but only slightly. I really enjoyed it. As a by the by, of all the delightful ladies in the show, Shelley has stood the test of the time the best for me. I saw Shelley on Mad Men a few years ago and thought she looked pretty rough . My fave in TP was Audrey. She looked really old in TP: The Return though! I’ve never aged a day in 27 years of course!

I have quite a few no doubt excellent Ozu films, including that one, Late Spring/ Autumn etc, that require much more concentration than I can muster at the moment. So I suspect that Godzilla vs King Kong or Mothra is much more likely to be my next viewing. Get MUBI for 3 month for free and stream some Jean Pierre Melville films: mubi.com/watershed

I was shocked at how old, fat and dumpy looking she got
The Log Lady looked hotter than Audrey.

After having watched 10 minutes I think it is a movie that I can see and be content.

Yes. The Best Scrooge ever. User Nalkarj once described him best in a thread in classic cinema board. " There is, as you say, something very appealing about him as an actor—I think it may be the voice, that burr with just a hint of authority that is undermined by its pomposity and the amazing contortions Sim can do with his face. He is both in charge and slightly ridiculous—which competing qualities make him immensely likeable."

Awesome.
I can pretty much watch any 'Scrooge' / 'A Christmas Carol' (and make it a point to whenever they're on during the Holidays) - read it during the Holidays too -
But that version is my favorite
Not aware of anything else I may have seen him in - but truth be told the only other old school movies like that I enjoy/have seen are the old school Universal Monster Movies - i.e. Dracula, The Wolf Man, Frankenstein, etc.
Been watching them a lot during this crisis - they're all free on Netflix - can watch them over and over again.
I go back and forth and which is the best Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, Dracula and Bride - think for me it's -
The Wolf Man Frankenstein Bride
Dracula
