I was in the mood for a movie I could watch without needing to turn my brain on so I picked “Mercury Rising”, a 1998 Bruce Willis thriller that recently showed up on Netflix. I knew about its existence but I had never seen it before. Bruce Willis plays an FBI agent who finds himself in the unfortunate position of having to protect an autistic kid who unwittingly learned to crack a super secret code from government killers who can’t afford to have said code exposed.
I suppose it fulfilled my wish for mindless entertainment but it’s really nothing special as far as thrillers go.

Just needs to be a mindless entertainment. It's Friday and I have been working tirelessly for the whole week. Really my mind is feeling empty now. screamingtreefrogs You can also answer man.

Angie Dickinson in her 50s in this one I guess still looked pretty sexy. I saw this one in 2009. Any other suggestions, Carl? In fact I am now willing to settle for any thriller/horror and not just slasher.

Last night, I watched Escape From New York. One of my favorite movies as a kid, it is dated, cheesy and cheeky, but dammit, I love it anyway.

Last night, I watched Escape From New York. One of my favorite movies as a kid, it is dated, cheesy and cheeky, but dammit, I love it anyway. In what year does it take place? Wasn't it 1997?
Let's see:
1984 - über authoritarian government
1997 - US government loses control of its major city and turns it into an open-air prison 2001 - colonies on the moon, manned expeditions to Jupiter 2015 - flying cars and hoverboards *** EDIT *** and portable nuclear fusion reactors!
2019 - intelligent artificial beings practically indistiguinshable from real humans - and flying cars! 2022 - overpopulation and widespread hunger alleviated only by food tablets made out of human flesh
Not a very good track record for predictions!

Meh.
I enjoyed Carrie, Carlito's Way and Scarface.
How did you like The Untouchables?
I thought it stunk to high heavens.

Finally watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Thought it was a damn enjoyable movie - - watched three scenes over again right after finishing it. Might be my favorite Tarantino since Pulp Fiction.

I thought it was the most boring movie in the history of Western Civilization.
