Finally watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Thought it was a damn enjoyable movie - - watched three scenes over again right after finishing it. Might be my favorite Tarantino since Pulp Fiction. What am I missing?
I thought it was the most boring movie in the history of Western Civilization.
I'm pretty sure we just have different likes. You couldn't pay me to watch 95% of the horror dreck you love.

Ever see From Dusk Til Dawn?
He should have done something similar with Once Upon A Time in Hollywood - like 2 hours into this snoozer we get a complete swerve that comes out of nowhere and Brad Pitt is a vampire or something.
Instead I got fat drunken depressed boring Leonardo Dicaprio going through the motions.
Nothing more depressing than watching a movie about a depressed boozer who can't come to terms with aging.

De Palma fan?
Meh.
I enjoyed Carrie, Carlito's Way and Scarface.
How did you like The Untouchables?
I thought it stunk to high heavens.
Not a yuge fan, but he's made some decent films. Carlito's Way is great, and I enjoyed Carrie. Must admit to having enjoyed the Untouchables! Great fun. Disappointed in Scarface.

Scarface is one of those movies you love when you’re 15 but then you watch it as an adult and you realize it’s objectively bad and Pacino is horrible in it.

I didn't first see it until I was in my 40s or 50s. I don't hate it, but it is a bit ridiculous.

That's kind of the whole purpose of the movie - - looking at the difference between how DiCaprio and Pitt live their lives and deal with getting old. You pretty much dislike it at its most basic level. And the last twenty minutes is pretty much a complete swerve. Somehow I hadn't heard the surprise of the ending.

I think it would have been a little better if Charles Manson killed Pitt - then DiCaprio turns into a vampire out of nowhere and offs Manson.
Something cool like that you know?

Kind of like Scorcese and The Irishman with DeNiro, Pacino and Pesci.
It's an interesting question - what sucks harder - The Irishman or Once Upon in Hollywood?
I'm going to go with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
I thought The Irishman was an decent flick for the first 2 1/2 hours - but they final half hour pushed it down to OK / Mediocre / Average

I loved it. Easily one of my favorites of Tarantino along with Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds, though I’m admittedly not a huge fan of his in general. A great story, wonderful performances (except for Damian Lewis), just an open love letter to 60s Hollywood. Also, it has this sweet undertone that I found refreshing, the whole Sharon Tate subplot, of her watching herself in a movie, it really worked for me.

I watched another Hitchcock movie I had never seen before - Strangers on a Train (1951). It’s full of great moments, but I don’t think I would rank it among my favourite Hitchcock movies.

I personally rank it among my top 5 Hitch movies. It leaved me sad to think how much we lost when Robert Walker died at age of 32 just after Strangers on a Train was released. He would have been an incredible actor if he got more movies.

But yes, he played a great psychopath!

Watching Game Night (2018) with Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman.
It's not great, but I've seen worse.
Plus Kylie Bunbury is hot hot hot!

The Road Warrior - 1981 - Mel Gibson.
Never saw it. It's on BBC America right now.
These were never my type of movies - thinking it's going off in 10 minutes - but I'll give it a shot.

Yep.
That went off fairly quickly.
MLB Channel - 1952 World Series Game 7 - New York Yankees at Brooklyn Dodgers.
Sweet - didn't know film of this existed.

I watched The Train (1964), a John Frankenheimer WW II movie about the desperate attempt by the French Resistance to stop the retreating Nazis from stealing a trainload of precious artworks. Burt Lancaster stars. Not only a very enjoyable heist movie of sorts, but also one that raises interesting questions about the value of art, of national symbols, and of human life.

Before the new Mad Max movie with Charlize Theron came out, I re-watched all three previous ones with Mel Gibson. The Road Warrior was very different from what I remembered. It had far less action than the two sequels. I thought it was a bit slow in fact. I still enjoyed it though.
