Still alive but pretty upset over being out of a job and not getting paid until the Shutdown in our country is over. From what our Prime Minister, Scott Morrison has said the Shutdown could last for 6 months or more and that will be the longest amount of time I haven't worked since I was a teenager and was living with my Sister and I am hoping it ends earlier than that. I am happy none of my family or friends have the Coronavirus so that is one positive thing. sorry to hear that. what was your job? do you have any realistic option to change career / do something else while this lasts? Thanks Nora and sorry for taking a while to reply to this. I would rather not say where I work on the forum and I haven't told a lot of members I talk to on posts and private message that so don't take it personally but it is job I really enjoy and I like all the people I work with and my boss and it is disappointing not being able to work 'cause of the Shutdown Laws and hopefully it doesn't last as long as they are saying it is going to but it is too early to tell until there is a vaccine. I have decided I am going to stay with my job though until the Shutdown Laws are over and I can return to work and we are going to get a 'Job Keeper's Allowance' from the government and at first I thought that was only going to be $575 a week which isn't much but then I found out that was a bonus we are going to get and we are going to get our regular weekly pay once a fortnight and the government is going to pay $1500 of that and our bosses will pay the rest and I am really happy over that and am glad I am still going to be getting my weekly pay even though it is only once a fortnight 'cause Beccy earns enough to provide for both of us (and she is still working now but is on Easter Holidays) but I like to bring some money in and have my independence.
I have Endometriosis and suffer from Chronic pain and it is not something I like to talk about a lot but I have good days and bad days and my boss knows all about and makes allowances for me on my bad days and when I was diagnosed with it but Beccy said I didn't hav to work and she would take care of me but I like to work and on my good days I am fine and I can run around and do everything but it is just on my bad days things can be really hard and I am really hoping to avoid the Coronavirus 'cause I found out recently it can be worse for people who suffer from Chronic pain. I hope you have a happy Easter Nora and a good weekend.

As you probably know, the US is sending everybody 1,200 dollar checks (we're out of work also). Our government have two different things at the moment called the 'Job Keeper's Allowance' and the 'Job Seeker's Allowance' and I am going to get the 'Job Keeper's Allowance' which gives us a lot more than I thought it would and we will still get our weekly pay but once a fortnight and the government will pay $1500 of it and our bosses will pay the rest. While I would rather still be at work and am hoping the Shutdown Laws don't last all the way to September or October I am pretty happy over this and we are also going to get bonuses and the first one is for $575. I am glad the United States is sending money to people too and it is horrible how many people have lost their jobs and I think 2020 is going to be remembered for that as much as the Coronavirus.

Nora, I hope your friends who tested positive are doing better. Also, it may cheer you up to know my household shelters a collection of stuffed animals. I check in with them every once in a while to see how they're making it through this trying time. I'm still here (as far as I can tell) but slowly but steadily going crazy with cabin fever. Yes, we're allowed to go grocery shopping, but that gets pretty old pretty fast. The not-so-good news is that my poor sister is still under the weather (and that reminds me of another factor rubbing salt in our wounds: it's been raining or overcast almost every day of the last couple of weeks--and we're in Southern California!), and while it's pretty unlikely that she has COVID (she tested negative for it about a month ago and hasn't been outside since, except to the doctor's office), she's been ill for about six weeks now. So even if we weren't under house arrest Stay-At-Home regs, along with all the fun or interesting places being shut down, we wouldn't be able to go much of anywhere. And I also worry about both of my sons, who are still living in NorCal. The older one has/had a supervisory job in a bookstore, the younger one in a top-of-the-line hotel...so you can imagine how much job security either of them has. The good news: those of us down here have plenty of food and water (and we even have a local source for paper towels and tp, as long as we buy either of them a roll or occasionally a package at a time). And of course, we have our computers, our TV, and our books--both print and electronic. And since all three of us (my husband, my sick sister, and I) have retired, we don't have to worry about losing our jobs. Consequently, someone might point out--justifiably--that I have little or nothing to complain about, but...we just moved down to this area in late January, and barely had the chance to do any of the things we planned to do, so...well, there it is. To anybody who's stuck with me up to now, thanks for letting me vent. That helps. Venting definitely helps.

The United States has also expanded their unemployment qualifications to cover almost everybody. Plus we get an additional $600 a week on top of our regular weekly pay. I hope you are not suffering financially. Now's a good time for us to appreciate not having to work and stay home. (Lots of people are working from home now in the US. They aren't eligible for the unemployment. But they still get the $1,200.)

Still alive myself. So glad to hear everyone else is still up and running.
Going a little stir crazy myself. I guess there's not too much we can do about that. I've been doing a lot of artwork to stay busy. Learning new techniques and trying new materials and supplies. I recommend it if you need a way to stay busy.

Still here. Weather has been lovely. None of my family have gone out since Monday. Spent the evening out in the back garden.

Still here. Waiting on my antibody test, hoping it comes back positive. Not only will I have some immunity, at least for awhile, but I'll be able to donate plasma to the critically ill.

First covid-19 case was reported last Thursday in the county. The county just to the north of here have a pork and a turkey processing plant. They have reported that workers there have covid 19 but won't say how many. MAny people from town here work at the plants. So I'm sure it's around town.

Classic Nora! Drop a bomb about cops being in her apartment and then leave without saying why. Ok, I'll bite, why were there cops in your apartment, Nora?
