His Holiness Pope Francis is leading us all in prayer at 5pm UTC today from the Vatican.
This will include the rare Urbi et orbi Blessing.
A plenary indulgence is available for Catholics who participate in the service online.

Why isn't the Pope out among the sick instead of staying at home?

Why isn't the Pope out among the sick instead of staying at home? Italy is locked down. Vatican City is its own country. And even then, was he out and about before the lockdown?

Matthew 25:36 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ I am sure that a video conference call counts LOL

I've always been rather curious, what is your opinion on Mother Terresa?

I've always been rather curious, what is your opinion on Mother Terresa? Honestly... I'm not sure. She is certainly controversial, within the Church, and without. I don't know enough about the whole story to say, but she isn't a Saint I would personally pray to/with. That last paragraph says enough of my opinion of her I guess 🤷♀️

That was beautiful.
Usual rules didn't apply... Everyone who had tuned in live whether on TV, radio, and the internet, who joined with the Holy Father in the prayer has been granted a plenary indulgence 🙏
My purgatory clock is reset to zero.

Plenary indulgence...isn't this that thing like in Dogma where you walk thru the doors of the church and all of your sins are forgiven? If you are in lockdown, how can you do this?

The Pope can give plenary indulgence for different things. Today he gave an extraordinary (and beautiful) service in a time of pandemic, where everyone who joined him live in one particular prayer, via whatever media, was granted a plenary indulgence. To receive it means ALL current time in purgatory you have accrued through sin is wiped out. No time being cleansed before you go to be with Our Lord.

At least he wasn't trying to sell us all indulgences like the church has done in the past.

Yes I can see how just how tough that must be, having to tune in to a prayer session to get one. If I see it repeated on YooToob does that count as well?

You only get grace from spiritual communion if you participate in the Mass live in real time.

Where did the Pope make this specific rule? I haven't asked him. It's just the way it is. So the rule is to be obeyed even when you don't know from whence it comes? How do you know it exists?
