J2 Not necessarily. If the climate of the board is healthy, the Mods are generally respected, the posters may gripe sometimes but that's the way it is. With me, the posters knew all had to do was PM me if there was a problem, I even let them scream at me in PM, which was saying quite a bit because of the age range. I saved a lot of posters that should have been banned but because they were popular, I worked WITH those posters. "I saved a lot of posters". That tells me everything I need to know. It always felt 'free', like a sense of 'freedom' (no intrusion) to post on imdb because IT WAS free. Funny how you miss the little things especially when they're gone. I realized this little fact recently when I learned of imdb's 'auto moderation'.

I've been part of many moderated boards and having mods with jurisdiction over a specific board is how most operate. Want to know who should or shouldn't be mods? Don't give them a lot of power, just give them a little and see what they do with it. You'll figure out really fast who should be overseers and who shouldn't, trust me.

That's exactly what they did at IDF. Sometimes they would even bait the mods and see how they react. I became a global mod after about 3 months after having one section all to myself.

Exactly, art. It's nearly impossible to know for sure who will be good at a certain job, sometimes just have to give somebody a chance and wait and see.
