Not sure why it gets so much hate, it had a pretty good output. Do '80s movies really get a lot of hate, or do some people just claim they do. Over on the music forum, one user made a similar claim about '80s music and that claim was thoroughly debunked.

I guess it comes and goes, but the 80s seems to be often targeted more than others when it comes to the "worst" decade of all time, and so on. When it comes the music of the 80s, I think that the "haters" or critics often tend to over focus mostly on what they feel is the most easy or obvious "target" and ways of ridicule an entire decade of music. And by that, it means pretty much every artist or band who had "goofy hairstyles", colorful clothes, and of course made "outdated" and "too 80s" sounding music on a synthesizer or a drum machine. When it comes to movies, I am not sure if the 80s and its cinema have suffered as much ridicule and negative critic over the years as the music business, and looking at the last 10 years (or more) with the whole retro-nostalgia trend, which still seems to be very much alive, it have probably helped or put that decade in a better (or worse) light for many of those who did not live or experience that era, and who have mostly read or heard bad things of it.
