I feel like Avatar will land as one saga instead of installments to judge, like The Lord of the Rings & Star Wars OT. For that reason, I'm thinking this lukewarm sequel proper will be skipped over at the Oscars... Part #5, on Earth if they're being honest, will likely be Avatar's deciding legacy 3hrs.

oh man this was bad. walked out after 2 hours. couldnt take it anymore. no story no humans no acting… all just a parade of tech craft - which on its own is impressive but not enough to connect with me emptionally or keep me interested if the story is bland and the acting is pretty much not visible. simple cartoons are better.

Riding past $1.17B at the international box office, the sci-fi epic has become the highest-grossing overseas release of the pandemic era and the No. 5 title ever offshore behind Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Titanic and Avengers: Infinity War.
3/5 all time overseas. Cameron is GOD

Pretention, vapid, and utterly worthless..... wow, can we stay civil? no need to call names. I saw The Menu, didnt love it, but it was better than Avatar, had more of a story and at least some humor. I am aware that many peoope dont share the same opinion. But reasonable minds can differ (and not call each other names). I also think many people went to see it because its Avatar sequel and because of the technology/ visuals. Thats understandable, it was partially my motivation too. But it simply didnt keep me entertained enough to stay. No emotional impact, no intrigue. Same story like last time pretty much. Just fewer human actors to see. Maybe that was the biggest flaw from my point of view.

I couldn’t believe my eyes watching Avatar The Way of Water. Is it a perfect movie, script wise? Are there things you might have liked better here or there? Sure. But no one can do what Jim Cameron can do. No one would even try. A fully immersive cinematic experience in 3-D all coming from the imagination and vision of a groundbreaking director. I said that the only movie people will remember from this year is Top Gun Maverick, but Avatar is another one. Attention must be paid to films with this kind of scope, ambition, and reach. Theaters will continue to exist solely because of movies like Avatar. This is the future, whether you like it or not. Sure, Everything, Everywhere All at Once brought people out to the theaters to the tune of $70 million, which is especially impressive considering its modest budget, but it’s also a movie that could be made for streaming, no problem. Avatar isn’t. Avatar doesn’t exist unless movie theaters exist. www.awardsdaily.com/2023/01/17/oscars-2023-oscar-voters-can-save-the-oscars/
