Yeah, fuck Disney. If it's on D+ it should be part of the subscription.

Most of the VOD rentals this year were around $20, right? They've added $10 to that. On top of their subscription rate.
Fuck Disney.

I won't be renting it. But Mulan isn't most VOD releases. And if people were so willing to drop 20 on Trolls World Tour, I have to imagine people will pay $10 more to watch a movie they probably actually want to watch.

People with kids definitely will. But it's fucked up, and it's getting harder and harder for me to justify giving this company my money.

Don’t think anyone was gonna shell out money to see a movie about how great China is right now anyway.

And please stop with the theories that this is gonna hurt theaters. It’s not. Theaters elsewhere have been playing older movies and have been fine. Theaters will come back STRONGER next year.

You can’t make a living on older movies, though. Theaters will never be completely extinct, but I think it’s safe to say the game has changed and less movies will make it to theaters, which means many will close and ticket prices will go up. Even if studios eventually go back to the norm and invest into the theater-going experience the same as before, it’ll take a while for things to catch up. They lost a lot of ground being closed for more or less 5 months now.

Who actually wants to watch this though? The target audience isn’t exactly kids, like the cartoon was aimed at. Who knows? Disney missed out on making this a musical.

Who knows? Disney missed out on making this a musical. Disney is not the same anymore. Not the warm, bright, inoffensive and sentimental traditional Disney that I grew up with and solely aimed at family audiences. They have now used their banner to capitalize on stronger entertainment, which flew under the Touchstone banner in the 80's and early 90's and perhaps should have remained.
Interesting since Disney took over the Star Wars franchise, they kept their logo away from the start of it. Imagine the howls of laughter if the magic kingdom image opened Star Wars before the Lucasfilm logo. They must still feel insecure about what Disney once represented. Trying to be something they're not. Â Â Honestly once Disney started doing 3D animation (not pixar) they stopped being Disney.

I just think people should stop supporting Disney at this point. Don’t be expecting this to be the only movie on their service to do this. If enough people pay the 37.00 there’s a good chance Disney will continue to do this. Heck Netflix may do something similar.
For this reason I’ll continue supporting theaters. If Disney+ continues to go down this route they’ll lose subscribers. I’ve already read people have cancelled their subscriptions due to this decision. Can’t say I blame them!!!
