I found Hellraiser rather boring to be honest. Never been intrigued to rewatch it.
Pinhead has to be the most hyped up and now forgotten 80s horror character. "Eurotrash demon."

A Nightmare on Elm Street
I am not a fan of the Hellraiser franchise at all.

But down the list from Freddy, Jason, Michael, Chucky, the Tall Man, Ash... Granted he did come onto the scene at the end of the decade but I don't think he caught fire in remembrance like he was promoted at the time "Clive Barker's Pinhead." Then again I guess it is more of a UK production than American so it lacked the PR boost.

A Nightmare on Elm Street I am not a fan of the Hellraiser franchise at all. The first two are pretty good. It goes downhill quite a bit from there though.

Hellraiser has a better first sequel, but no competition between the first one or overall franchise.

Would you put him on par with Leatherface?

Would you put him on par with Leatherface? No because Leatherface was from the early 70s so he had more time to establish himself as a horror icon and a chainsaw is his weapon
Pinhead is more like a Freddy--supernatural--actor-driven performance with makeup, but he isn't fun. He's unemotional and distant. At least that is how he seems to me. Him and the other Cennobites-I recall them just standing around with their goth sensibilities... maybe it was how he was utilized--what if he was showing up in someone's bedroom or a summer camp, it would have been different. I always remember him standing in some dark room holding a rubik's cube type thing...
"They OPENED the G A T E!"
etc

The first is okay, the second is terrible. They are sick and depressing movies imo. The first is undeniably creepy, I'll give it that. Bloodline is sort of a guilty pleasure.

They are scary, but boring.

I've only seen the first Hellraiser, but I like the original Nightmare on Elm Street a lot more.

Are you suggesting that the Tall Man is more remembered than Pinhead? If so, what is your justification?

Are you suggesting that the Tall Man is more remembered than Pinhead? If so, what is your justification? Not remembered more but more favorably despite much less exposure.
Maybe because it is an actor-driven performance with no fancy makeup.

I don't buy that. I'd say they are both loved equally within the horror community. I could be wrong, but nobody will be able to convince me of it. I suppose a poll on the horror board might give me some idea.

Maybe if I went to a horror convention and asked every person there which villain they prefer. I don't care if you do or don't, or whether it can be scientifically proven or not.
I would bet however that on average Angus Scrimm is better known in horror appreciation circles than Doug Bradley. Whether you want to go out and conduct a survey is entirely up to you.

I don't care enough to do that. You can just have this one.
