The Row...aside from very attractive women mostly in their underwear, this one had nothing really going for me. The dialog is especially bad and annoyed me almost immediately with Peter Framptons daughter calling herself a slut in every other conversation. Lala Kent looked amazing tho...shes a beaut that one.
My Bloody Valentine...decent early 80s slasher. I enjoyed the mining town/mine setting, the killers costume fit the setting, the revelation of the killer made sense. It doesn't feel like the most unique film in the world but it's certainly good standard slasher affair for the times.

Check In - October 25 On a personal note my dad had a stroke and needs surgery. Pretty nervous about everything. Only thing I can do now is wait and watch horror movies. Hope things work out for your dad. Thank you so much!

Grotesque 1988 Linda Blair (producer & star), and friend, visit her nice but weirdo parent's cottage for the weekend and meet a gang of not so nice punks led by a way too intense Robert Z'Dar. Then it's a chase movie through a blizzard, punks chasing Blair while something hideous chases the punks. Then it's a cop movie. Then a revenge flick. Then ... then everyone dropped acid and made the finale. There are many recognizable faces and Grotesque is bog standard 70s made for TV thriller (kinda). There is a fair amount of violence, a respectable kill count, mild blood and gore, a sex scene where nothing is shown but bare shoulders, and some monsters. The ending is absolutely the most bizarre I've ever seen.

Don't the filmmakers realize movies like this need nudity to make them watchable? It's not like the "actresses" will ruin their careers by showing their tits. Hell most of the co eds in the movie are pushing 30 so they should have popped their tits out while they still were decent. I guess nudity makes millennials cry tho. Maybe thats why every woman was butchered as soon as she was in lingerie. It's bizarrely difficult to find horror movies with nudity in the last decade or so. Most of them are PG-13. I do like My Bloody Valentine tho. I even liked the remake well enough. It was rated R and featured 3D tits. Whats not to like?

I hope your Pop is resting well. The recovery rate from strokes these days is impressive. I'm sure others here will agree that our thoughts are with you and your dad during this trying time.

Watching Night of Demons on TV right now and this film is REALLY bad even by 1980's standards. By far the worst film I've watched this month.

Watched Scanners, better than Rabid, good effects, mediocre acting.

Some quick thoughts on Fright Night (1985).
This movie is at it's best when it focuses on the good guys and Evil Ed, whenever it starts focusing on Chris Sarandon it can get quite campy in a bad way. I have mixed feeling about his performance, sometimes he is interesting and sometimes he isn't. The movie also doesn't utilize Evil Ed to his full potential and I think if he was given more focus the movie would be more interesting. The movie gets too vampire soap opera-y in the second half with the Dracula love-interest/seduction stuff and it just doesn't fit with the overt silliness of the rest of the movie. Everything about Roddy McDowell's character is just wonderful though. I think the movie should have spent more time building things up instead of the main character figuring out his neighbor is a vampire right off the bat and it sort of just goes on autopilot in the second half.
Overall the movie is fun enough, but it gets bogged down by some of the stuff I mentioned. I have watched the movie a handful of times in the past and I keep coming back to it because I remember the good stuff, but then I re-watch it and I am reminded why it doesn't work for me on the whole. The remake actually does some stuff better, but it lacks the unique glee of the original and David Tennant and Christopher Mintz-Plasse pale in comparison to the original versions of those characters.
6.5/10

The good guys stuff works but the Chris Sarandon scenes steal the show for me...probably because they are campy and over the top at times, but the combination of his characters suaveness and the soundtrack make me love this one. Evil Ed is one of the best minor characters in a horror movie. One thing that stuck out tho...why doesn't Evil Ed turn back into a human in the end? Marcy turned back into a normal girl but Evil Ed stayed a creature of the night. Im sure its just to have that last little scare/'You're so cool Brewster' line but still...it makes no sense.

I watched this movie again, yesterday. I forgot how bloody annoying Charlie was.
I also think the scenes with Sarandon were better, mostly because the "teens" are annoyed the shit out of me. Right now Im watching the second one and Charlie is still a creepy douche. Thank god for Peter and Alex.

That's stupid. I am actually 10 minutes before the end, so I spoke too soon. I didn't remember that he survived. It seems like something they just tacked on and doesn't seem to make any sense.

I don’t hate it, because the movie isn’t all that serious, but I noticed it the last time I watched it.

Lol agreed. I don’t hate it, because the movie isn’t all that serious, but I noticed it the last time I watched it. I agree that it doesn't hurt the movie, but it is unnecessary. I understand why people like the Chris Sarandon stuff btw, but it just doesn't work for me. It feels like the writer didn't seem to know what to do with the story at a certain point so they just threw stuff at the wall. I think everything about the character is far more interesting in the earlier parts of the movie.
