Per Ben's Twitter Account.
If a star player from your favorite team supported a party you did not wish to affiliate with - would you still root them on - or would you denounce the organization officially ending your fandom?

Happens all the time. Surely you have friends and family with whom you don't always agree with politically? Do you stop talking to them?

What do their political views have to do with me? I'm a fan of them for sporting reasons. If they agree with me politically, that's just a bonus.

So you continue to have contact with these 'friends' and 'family members' even if they preach and push their opinions on you?

So you can block politics and social justice issues out of sports completely?

I don't know if preaching is the right word, but of course. As I've mentioned in the past that many if not most of my coworkers are Trump supporters. And I have several in my family. I also have friends who are far more liberal than I am. It's not a big deal. You find a middle ground and it's ok not to agree on everything.

What if Jayson Tatum believed in Qanon?

I still eat at Chick-Fil-a and drink Yuengling as a liberal. I was a Dodgers fan through Al Campanis's racist dreck. I still was a Steelers fan even though the Steelers signed dog murderer Michael Vick.
It's easy to separate affiliations.

Insanity is a separate issue. I'm talking about genuine political values.

I have a gay friend who eats Chick-Fil-a and he says "yeah, fuck them and the things they support, but dammit if they don't make a delicious chicken sandwich." Pretty much every word out of Roger Waters' mouth makes me want to punch him in the face, but I won't pass up an opportunity to see him at a show. Well, ya know, when shows were a thing.

So based on how this thread is going so far -
It looks like the general consensus is we should be able to block out social justice issues and politics and just be able to enjoy our sports entertainment....

My more woke liberal friends do not like those business's conservative politics. Personally, it would have to be Ford and Disney pre-WWII level politics before I'd stop purchasing stuff from a company whose product I really like. If Republicans buy sneakers, liberals buy chicken biscuits.
