One thing will make this a unique offseason. With no minor league season, no GM can evaluate their prospects. Normally you would have "Well we can let Sid Squid walk because Joe Blow can take over for him at second." Well, Joe Blow hasn't taken a competitive pitch since August, 2019. The prospect haven't been sitting around eating Dorito's since then but they haven't played real games. How will it affect prospects is another question.
Maybe it will make that twat Rob Manfred realize that baseball needs the minors

Rockies might be in fire sale mode. They can't compete with the Dodgers and the Padres now. Arenado had a huge contract ($199 mil owed through '26), Charlie Blackman could opt out next year and will after 2021. Trev Story is a FA after 2021. It will be tough to move Arenado w/o eating some of that but Story and Blackmon could bring some nice prospects. Beside Brendan Rodgers, the cupboard is bare, prospect wise.

Arenado for literally the entire Mets farm system. Every single guy is theirs. The Mets will just go with nobody in the minors for the next few years.

How badly will his numbers fall playing at sea level for the whole season? But, damn, he's not even 30. And the contract is pricey but not ridiculous. Done with it at age 35.

His career at Coors: .322/.376/.609 (.985) with 136 HR, 461 RBI and 669 H in 543 games. In 536 road games: .263/.322/.471 (.793) with 99 HR, 299 RBI and 537 H. He's got 9 steals though versus just 7 at home! Pretty disparate, and at home he and Blackmon are pretty even across the board but Blackmon falls off a bit more on the road.

Mets aren't bad, contract wise. Just deGrom and Cano (!) with big money. Thor and Conforto will big raises in arbitration. They could pick up Arenado's contract no problem. But the Rox will want a King's ransom for Nolan in prospects.

It's funny with the Cano deal, he looked AWESOME in 2020, but there's no way he'll be able to duplicate that type of production over the 3 more (full) seasons. I imagine they'll work out an extension with Conforto before next season, he's been really good and getting steadily better. Thor needs to show he's healthy and maybe with the Wilpons and their bullshit out of the way, he can finally blossom (I'm going to grasp at every straw I can find with him). Part of me wants them to sign Andrelton Simmons to light a fire under Rosario's ass. Simmons can play short for me any day, and Rosario.....can barely play defense at all.

If the Mets tell the Rockies that they'll pay all of Arenado's deal, they might be able to pull it off. Depends pn how bad the Rox want to rebuild. i just seen a rumor that they want Kolten Wong, so maybe they won't fire sale. They should, that division belongs to LA and SD now and the Giants are coming. But is the rebuild more cost cutting or restocking the farm?

He was responsible for putting together those iconic Twins teams 30 years ago.

Jays also apparently open to anyone/everyone in free agency. I think it'd be hilarious if Marcus Stroman strolled back here.
