Technically this is no different then what trophy hunters do. They don't for the weakest animals, but they try to hunt the bigger and stronger animal because it poses more of challenge. The Predator doesn't go after the woman but after the soldiers because they are more challenging prey. Subjective hunting is one thing I could never take seriously in the Predator franchise. Pregnant woman or not: she's a threat. What an alien savage deems as challenging is shit. Yes a pregnant woman isn't a challenge but as it's a creature that hunted facehuggers that are known for impregnating beings with xenomorphs too I can't really believe that. It is in some hunter's etiquette to avoid killing pregnant deer and so fourth. I'd imagine the writers of these films were trying to draw a parallel between the alien and human hunters following a principle or something.

Why not also ask if it's a dramatic "boy meets girl" movie ?
It's not a "slasher" movie. (imo)

And if it is, does that make it the best slasher ever made? Gore n blood, final girl, big unstoppable killer, bimbo girlfriend(s) who get killed in teen sex romp, incompetent cops, its all there. But its nicely wrapped up in sci-fi. Best slasher movie ever made? Could be. But I still think a true proper slasher movie should win that honor and I give it to Halloween.

No. It is a cross-genre film, Sci-Fi, Action, and Horror. James Cameron has said he based The Terminator on Halloween while Arnold has said his performance was inpsired by Yul Brynner in West World.
